We’re excited to welcome Rukaiyah Adams as this year’s keynote speaker at REAP’s Young Women of Purpose Leadership Luncheon on Friday, March 7th! As CEO of the 1803 Fund, Ms. Adams is leading innovative investments that drive community change and economic empowerment. A dedicated leader and advocate, she also serves on the Port of Portland Commission, Rockefeller Brothers Fund Investment Committee, and as Board Chair of OPB. At Young Women of Purpose (YWOP), we connect middle and high school youth with professional mentors over a business lunch to explore careers, leadership, and future possibilities. Ms. Adams’ journey—from Stanford University Law and Business School to championing equity through finance—will inspire the next generation of young women to dream big and lead with purpose. This year’s theme, "Our History Can’t Be Erased," is about honoring the legacy of Black pioneers while empowering the next generation of leaders. We want to take a moment to recognize the speakers and mentors who have volunteered their time to support and uplift these young men. Their guidance, encouragement, and personal stories will help students see their potential and the possibilities ahead. Four exceptional sophomores are stepping up to transform student support at Aloha High School—by becoming CERTIFIED Peer Support Specialists through REAP! Through specialized training in active listening, conflict resolution, and mental health advocacy, they’re gaining the tools to uplift their peers, foster resilience, and create a more supportive school environment. Every early morning trip to REAP HQ is an investment in their school’s future. When they return, they’re bringing back real strategies to help classmates navigate personal challenges, reduce stigma, and build a stronger, more connected community. #StudentLeaders #PeerSupport #REAP #YouthEmpowerment

Last week, YEP took a powerful step forward, presenting at the Oregon State Legislature in support of House Bill 2546, a critical push to expand resources and opportunities for young entrepreneurs. With compelling testimonies from students Nathan Yoseph, Coralia Chavez, and other advocates, we made it clear: when students are given the right tools, they don’t just navigate the economy—they shape it. YEP is proving that Black and Latino youth don’t have to be limited to low-wage jobs—they can be business owners, innovators, and leaders. Major thanks to our advocates State Representative Andrea Valderrama, her chief of staff Abigail Kirshy, and legislative assistant Woodrow Moore who have been instrumental in supporting our efforts.
