🔈 Check out the new video on the patented HPMS technology, developed at REEsilience partner University of Birmingham 👇
Chief Executive, Mkango Resources - Director, HyProMag & Maginito - sustainably sourced and recycled rare earths and NdFeB magnets
Commercialising rare earth magnet recycling and manufacturing at Tyseley Energy Park in Birmingham - new video from the Birmingham Centre for Strategic Elements and Critical Materials on the patented Hydrogen Processing of Magnet Scrap (HPMS) technology, developed at University of Birmingham Magnetic Materials Group and exclusively licenced to HyProMag Ltd HyProMag GmbH #HyProMagUSA - scaling up in UK, Germany and USA Birmingham Centre for Strategic Elements and Critical Materials: “Things are developing quickly right now with the recycling facility for Rare Earth Permanent Magnets (REPMs) at Tyseley Energy Park and our powder processing system has arrived since this was filmed, but this is a nice summary of what we’re doing and why it’s so important to all of us. The INSERMA ANOIA SL automated system for removing voice coil magnets (VCMs) from Hard Disk Drives (HDDs), shown in this video was the first generation machine and can still be found at the University of Birmingham. This technology has been developed further and now has the potential to remove a VCM in less than three seconds per HDD. HPMS technology was developed in the University of Birmingham Magnetic Materials Group and is a highly effective short loop recycling process for Rare Earth Permanent Magnets, delivering a 90% energy saving when compared to those produced from primary materials. HPMS technology is exclusively licensed to HyProMag Ltd who are commercialising this in the United Kingdom, Germany and USA.” SUSMAGPRO Project Mkango Resources Ltd. REEsilience reposted this
#Nachhaltigkeit #NdFeB #SelteneErden #Kreislaufwirtschaft #Innovation #Forschung #Fraunhofer #Rohstoffstrategie #CRMAct

Happy to share that our project partners Mkango Resources Ltd. and INSERMA ANOIA SL successfully secured an exclusive agreement! 👇
Mkango Resources Ltd. subsidiary, Maginito, secures exclusive agreement with Inserma (www.inserma.com) to commercialise automated pre-processing of hard disc drives (HDDs), loudspeakers and electric motors for HyProMag Ltd HyProMag GmbH #HyProMagUSA - Latest mobile Inserma unit for pre-processing HDDs can be co-located at hyperscale data centres, shredding, recycling or #HyProMag facilities. - Rapidly removes the Voice call Motor (VCM) containing the rare earth magnet, not only providing a steady, highly concentrated feed for subsequent Hydrogen Processing of Magnet Scrap (HPMS) by #HyProMag, but also delivering major benefits for sustainable, secure and low cost recycling of HDDs: ✅ Expected VCM removal in less than 3 seconds per HDD ✅ Secure data destruction of the remainder of the HDD can remain on site ✅ Removal of the rare earth magnet reduces costs and carbon footprint of subsequent shredding ✅ Simultaneous removal of centre spindle further facilitates subsequent shredding, and reduces blade breakage, costs and carbon footprint ✅ No heat treatment or dismantling required for magnet recovery ✅ Facilitates #HyProMag’s short loop magnet manufacturing process with minimal carbon footprint ✅ Complementary technology for automated Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) removal under development. - Ultimate goal to deploy hundreds of pre-processing units, across multiple jurisdictions, providing pre-processing solutions for a range of end-of-life applications, including HDDs, loudspeakers and electric motors, and generating feed for #HyProMag’s short loop rare earth magnet recycling process - Mkango Resources Ltd. #CoTec and #HyProMag are engaging with major hyperscale data centre providers, shredders, recycling companies and other groups which are showing strong interest in deploying the technology in parallel with HPMS Mkango Resources Ltd. will host an Investor Webinar with Share Talk Ltd this Thursday 5th September at 5pm UK time / 12pm Eastern Time. Please register and submit any questions via the following link: https://lnkd.in/eat-xiDv Mkango Resources Ltd. will be participating in the Adamas Intelligence Rare Earth Mines, Magnets & Motors 2024 Conference in Toronto in September.
