It was an incredible honor to lead the planning of Google's recent event in celebration of San Francisco Fleet Week! Bringing this event to life was a true labor of love. It meant the world to me to give back to the military community alongside fellow Googlers. ⚓ We were thrilled to host active duty Marines and Sailors at our SF office, connecting with them and demonstrating Google's commitment to supporting our service members. 🌟 A highlight of the event was awarding $100K grants to four incredible nonprofits who are doing phenomenal work for veterans and their families - thank you Google.org! Beyond the grants, these organizations will also gain free access to valuable resources like Google Career Certificates thanks to Grow with Google! Foundation for Women Warriors (Jodie M. Grenier) Navy SEAL Foundation (Anthony Curtis, Kevin Mangini) Service to School (Alec Emmert) Swords to Plowshares (Tramecia Garner, LPCC) ⚡ Guests learned about Google's initiatives for veterans and military families, including resources for career transitions, programs like SkillBridge (shoutout Rebecca Waters) and Google Cloud Launchpad (shoutout Christian Michael). We also showcased exciting product demos from Google Search, Gemini, Fitbit (now part of Google), and ReflexAI Oh, did I mention we watched the US Navy Blue Angels during a rooftop happy hour?! I'm so grateful to have had this opportunity to give back to the veteran and military community, and proud to work for a company dedicated to supporting it. I also want to recognize the incredible team that brought this event together - Rebecca Waters Charlene Clee Jeff Hamel Neil Smith Michael Benedosso Sarah Henderson Rosenberg Maggie Cacioppo Sidnie Davis Danny deForest Robert Rosenberg Sasha Buscho Deborah Wituski Chris Rackow Barbara Fitzharris Lewis Loeven San Francisco Fleet Week Association Caroline H. There’s a lot of skepticism—and, honestly, fear—in the field of psychotherapy when it comes to the use of AI in addressing mental health issues. Some therapists are wary of human-AI relationships and many are concerned about the potential for harm. I believe a lot of that comes from a limited understanding of how AI can be used. I love introducing the work of ReflexAI into these conversations, especially the work they’ve done in addressing mental health among our veterans. In this work, AI is a partner, not a replacement, a tool that is used to reduce harm and increase the likelihood of confident connection and attunement in a potential crisis.
We’re incredibly proud to be working with the VA and the Veterans Crisis Line, using AI to support crisis line responders and help them better connect with the veterans they serve. Through our work with the VCL, ReflexAI’s AI-powered simulations are helping responders develop and fine-tune the skills needed to navigate challenging and high-pressure conversations with empathy and precision. At ReflexAI, our goal is to ensure that these frontline responders are equipped with the best tools possible to provide meaningful support. We’re thrilled to be contributing to such a vital project. Together with the VA, we’re driving real change for those who have served our country. https://lnkd.in/gzee9Ags #AI #VeteransCrisisLine #MissionDaybreak #CrisisSupport #Veterans #ReflexAI #ResponsibleAI #MentalHealthTech
