It’s quite typical for people to attend a panel and brag about it. This could very much be a post like that. But personally, as I compose it I am filled with strong emotions that I want to share as an entrepreuner and not as a CEO. Being a speaker at the prestigious VCs on Tees weekend event at The Sagamore Resort, in Lake George it’s an absolute honour and a testament that our entrepeunerial impact with the work we do at Threedium is being positively noticed across the globe and especially in US. A market that is of high strategic importance to us. Being invited on stage along with some absolute enterpreuner rockstars who are redefining US Business like Michael Lazerow Kass Lazerow Dave Carvajal Bob Lynch Joe Gagnon Michael Haddix Jr Matias Rivera Larrain Travis Terrell made me feel very proud and signalled to me that we are ready to be promoted to the Big League. Huge thanks to Joyce Reitler for scouting us and Edward G. Reitler for believing in us from day 1. Reitler Kailas & Rosenblatt LLP is hands down the best VC Law Firm in the market - no doubt. Cannot think of any other institution that can pull so many important players across US within the ecosystem (and their families) for a weekend in Lake George - testament to your invaluable work and respect people hold for you. Tax Alert for Stockholders and Other Business Owners Do you (1) own equity in a business and (2) have a buy-sell agreement that provides for the business to repurchase equity from its owners, and could the business use life insurance proceeds for the repurchase? On June 6, 2024, in Estate of Connelly v. United States, the Supreme Court held that if a business receives life insurance proceeds to repurchase a deceased shareholder's shares, those proceeds must be included in the value of the business for Federal income tax purposes. What does this mean to you? If you are an equity owner of a business and you have an estate that is or could be above the applicable estate tax exemption level, and if you fit within the criteria above, this means that the value of your estate, and thus the amount of estate tax that may be payable, may increase, based upon the value of those insurance proceeds. What should you do? Check with your financial advisor, your insurance provider and your lawyer. They can help with an analysis of your insurance coverage and your buy-sell agreement to determine the impact of this case on you. There may be other insurance arrangements and agreements that this case does not affect and that they can propose.
