Texas A&M-RELLIS

We were honored to host Dr. Thom Mason, Los Alamos National Laboratory director during his visit to #Aggieland where we had an #opportunity to showcase Texas A&M University System capabilities to advance the development of critical technologies. He was able to see firsthand how recent Texas A&M System investments in research and facilities demonstrate our commitment to national security. His trip included visits to Texas A&M-RELLIS, the George H.W. Bush Combat Development Complex, Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station (TEES) facilities such as Robert Ambrose's RAD lab for robotics; the Aerospace Laboratory for Lasers, ElectroMagnetics, and Optics (ALLEMO) and National Aerothermochemistry and Hypersonics Laboratory (NAHL) facilities; and the Turbomachinery laboratory. We are proud to serve with LANL as a strategic partner, and look forward to more opportunities to further this special relationship!

We were happy to host Texas A&M University former students Dude Perfect earlier this summer as they attempted to bowl the world's longest strike using one of our runways as a bowling lane. Did you know that RELLIS is home to the Starlab, a state-of-the-art motion capture and virtual production facility? The lab, part of Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station (TEES), was founded by University Distinguished Professor Dr. James Hubbard in 1999 with funding from the Governor’s University Research Initiative and the Chancellor’s Research Initiative. The lab's work focuses on emerging technologies like virtual and augmented reality, smart system design and autonomous vehicles. Happening this spring at RELLIS: researchers at the George H.W. Bush Combat Development Complex are installing and adjusting the first laser system inside the Ballistic, Aero-Optics, and Materials, or BAM, a hypersonic tunnel that will provide a unique facility to accelerate key integrated hypersonic technologies.
