Renewables Forward
Renewables & Environment
A collaborative resource for inspiring greater diversity & inclusion within the renewable and clean energy industry.
About us
The transition to an economy powered by clean energy is under way. To actively drive the “just transition” and champion diversity, equity and inclusion we commit to action that elevates training and education, opens access to networks and resources, shares and builds wealth for the communities in which we work, and elevates opportunities for every individual and community. Together, we will build a more resilient, efficient, sustainable and affordable energy future. The initial initiative framework is simple and includes commitments to act on four core principles: • Assess diversity, equity, and inclusion in our industry to raise awareness around inequality and benchmark progress toward a more diverse and inclusive industry. • Develop and share corporate practices and policies for a consistent drive toward increasing diversity, equity, and inclusion within our companies and the industry. • Create a more diverse and inclusive pipeline of candidates in the renewable energy industry. • Invest in the under-resourced and minority communities in which we work and operate.

Despite progress, the gender pay gap remains a significant challenge across all industries, including #cleanenergy. #Women, especially women of color, continue to earn less 💰 than their male counterparts, even when performing the same roles. 💡 #Equalpay strengthens our industry by attracting and retaining diverse talent, leading to better outcomes for everyone. On this International #EqualPayDay, let’s commit to closing the gap. Learn more about our Pathway Forward Framework and take the pledge today. Our partner, Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC)’s 14th annual National Solar Jobs Census is OUT! We’re very excited that this year’s report includes a new qualitative study based on anonymous interviews with members of the solar industry. The result is a more in-depth look into #workforce development and #diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies in the #solar and storage industries. 🔗 Download the report now: https://lnkd.in/dGxD4Ufn.

Earlier this month, Renewables Forward was thrilled to kick-off the Wildfire Assessment and Resilience Network (#WARN) 5-year U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) award with NRECA. We will bring #DEI training, evaluation, and workforce support to 45 rural electric co-ops through the "GRIP 1" award. This initiative is scaling diversity, equity, and inclusion programming to uplift disadvantaged communities in rural and remote areas, making the energy transition more inclusive. 💡Interested in learning how your organization can support this vital work? It's True - Women make up just 32% of the renewable energy workforce and only 22% hold senior leadership roles, according to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). On Women’s Equality Day, we celebrate the progress made and commit to driving change. At Renewables Forward, we’re dedicated to empowering women and creating a more inclusive, equitable future in clean energy. Join us at the Women of Renewable Industries and Sustainable Energy (WRISE) Leadership Forum, Oct. 9-11, in Washington, DC, to celebrate and advance women in energy. 🔗 Register today: https://lnkd.in/e-9vHtxE #WomensEqualityDay
