We had an incredible time hosting this year’s Ceres Food Film Festival at Rethink Food! 🌱🍽️ From providing delicious meals for the opening night to hosting a remarkable Food & Earth screening at our Sustainable Community Kitchen, it was a weekend filled with culinary delights and inspiring stories. Our very own Culinary Director, Chef Ken Baker, moderated a fantastic panel discussion with Emy Kane of Lonely Whale (Seaweed Stories), filmmakers Jesse Pearlmutter (Mainspring Harbor), and Rosh C Patel (Café Y Aves). If you weren’t able to attend, you still have the opportunity to watch these remarkable documentaries (along with 47 others) virtually via https://lnkd.in/ew6HHz7N for free until this Fri, 10/25! #sustainability #filmfestival #nycevents

I'm incredibly thankful to have been part of the 10th Annual #PhillyChefConference 2024, hosted by Drexel University's Food and Hospitality Management Department. I had the honor of moderating the "Mutual Aid and Food Insecurity" workshop at the Rethink Food Lounge, with incredible participants like Rachel Sherman from Drexel University, Erwin, Valerie from St. Christopher's Foundation for Children, Jena Harris from the West Philly Bunnyhop, and Ben Miller from Reinhardt St Community Farm. The workshop, sponsored by the Association for the Study of Food and Society, highlighted the critical issues of mutual aid and food insecurity. It's so important to keep these conversations going and to work towards sustainable solutions. The Philly Chef Conference is an incredible annual event that not only brings together the best chefs, food producers, and industry leaders but also connects established professionals with aspiring students and young industry talent. The mission of this conference—to engage students with industry leaders and foster a day of education—is something that resonates deeply with our goals at Rethink Food. Feeling inspired and motivated to continue building a more equitable and sustainable food system. Thank you to everyone who participated and made this event so impactful.

I’m excited to share some big news from Rethink Food. We’ve just acquired Wellfare, a nonprofit that’s been doing incredible work providing premium groceries to families in need across New York City. This strategic collaboration will allow us to streamline operations, expand our reach, and make a greater impact on food-insecure communities across New York City. We’re also thrilled to welcome Cole Riley, founder and CEO of Wellfare, who will be joining Rethink Food as Director of Corporate Partnerships. Cole’s leadership and the innovative Better Box program have already delivered over $6.7M in nutritious groceries to food-insecure families across NYC. Together, we’ll push the boundaries of what’s possible to address food insecurity. Welcome to the team, Cole—looking forward to what we can achieve together!
