Navigating the Future: Why Celestial Navigation Outshines Quantum and pLEO Solutions for Satellite AltPNT 🌟 When it comes to #altPNT technologies for satellites, celestial navigation isn’t just an option—it’s the standout solution. But why does it surpass quantum and pLEO alternatives? 🌕 No Infrastructure Needed: Celestial navigation leverages the positions of celestial bodies, making it infrastructure-free and exceptionally reliable, whether in remote locations or deep space. 🔒 Immune to Jamming & Spoofing: In contested environments, celestial navigation stands firm. Unlike radio frequency-dependent systems, it’s immune to electronic attacks, ensuring unmatched security for your satellite operations. ⏳ Centuries of Trust: Celestial navigation is time-tested, simple, and cost-effective—qualities that ensure its relevance in an ever-evolving technological landscape. While quantum and pLEO technologies have potential, they bring challenges like complexity, high costs, and vulnerabilities. Quantum accelerometers, for instance, remain nascent at best. In contrast, celestial navigation offers a sustainable, low-complexity, and resilient altPNT solution for satellites. Learn more about why altPNT is essential for military resilience in Kevin Hause's recent article for SpaceNews: https://lnkd.in/eNBXiPFd For more information on RSA's celestial navigation altPNT solution, visit our website: https://lnkd.in/eu35iPWk #spaceindustry #celestialnavigation

🌟 It’s National Coding Week 🌟 In honor of National Coding Week, RSA is shining a spotlight on Ada Lovelace, a trailblazer whose pioneering spirit continues to inspire the worlds of mathematics and computer science. Born in 1815, Ada displayed remarkable mathematical prowess from a young age. Her encounter with Charles Babbage's Analytical Engine sparked her imagination, leading her to envision the potential of machines to surpass mere calculations. Inspired by the mechanical loom's punch cards, Ada's visionary work included what many consider the first algorithm intended for machine processing, laying the cornerstone for modern computing. Her contributions were so profound that, in the 20th century, the United States Department of Defense named a computer language "Ada" in her honor. This initiative, started in the late 1970s, aimed to standardize programming languages for defense projects. At RSA, we continue to honor Ada’s remarkable legacy with our own quantum communication capability: the Quantum Lovelace Optical Augmentation Kit (QLOAK). Ada Lovelace's enduring influence exemplifies resilience, creativity, and a relentless pursuit of knowledge. Join us in celebrating Ada's legacy and profound impact on the tech world this National Coding Week! 💻✨ Learn more about QLOAK here: https://lnkd.in/eCvesgTq #NationalCodingWeek #QuantumCommunication

🌕 This Saturday, Sept. 14, marks NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s annual International Observe the Moon Night! At Rhea Space Activity, we’re doing more than observing—we’re advancing the future of lunar exploration. As part of NASA’s TechFlights, we’re flying our Jervis Autonomy Module (JAM) on two separate communications satellites in cislunar space. Our JAM units will be tested during the Draper-led Commercial Lunar Payload Services initiative, which will carry NASA’s CP-12 science payloads to the far side of the Moon. These satellites are designed to communicate with the APEX 1.0 lunar lander designed and operated by ispace-U.S. This mission is a pivotal step toward enhancing communication and autonomy in cislunar space 🛰 Learn more about the mission here: https://lnkd.in/eb7PStt5 #ObserveTheMoon #LunarExploration #CislunarSpace #NASA #CLPS

Uncorrelated Track (UCT) processing plays a vital role in keeping our satellites safe and ensuring the reliability of space-based operations. With the increasing complexity of space traffic, innovations in UCT help address emerging challenges and improve the identification and tracking of objects in orbit 🌍 Check out the article below on #UCT Processing for Space Domain Awareness, with contributions from our very own Alex Nelson who is participating in the current cohort at the SDA TAP Lab ✨ #SpaceDomainAwareness
Uncorrelated Tracks or #UCTs processing is one of the toughest #SDA problems to solve. However, it is a fundamental capability that is required to establish a complete picture of every object out there, its intentions, and behaviors over time. This article captures our approach and efforts at the SDA TAP Lab towards making progress on this particular problem. To ensure military resilience in space, we must mandate #altPNT solutions on all spacecraft. GPS is a backbone of military operations and everyday life, but its growing vulnerabilities—especially under RF jamming like we've seen in Ukraine—are a serious concern. While we’re developing terrestrial altPNT solutions, our on-orbit assets remain at risk. Today, Kevin Hause, RSA's Chief of Strategy, makes a compelling case for mandating alternative PNT solutions for spacecraft in SpaceNews. He highlights proven technologies like: 🌟 Celestial navigation – An ancient practice modernized with advanced sensors to track stars and planets for precise positioning. 🌟 Quantum-assisted navigation – Utilizing quantum sensors to offer unparalleled accuracy and resilience in challenging environments. 🌟 Proliferated Low-Earth Orbit (pLEO) constellations – Enhancing PNT resilience with robust, low-latency services and expanded coverage. As Kevin notes, the threats to PNT systems are growing, and the U.S. government must prioritize GPS resilience by incorporating altPNT on all future spacecraft. The time to act is now 🕒 Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/eNBXiPFd #spaceindustry #celestialnavigation
