Attention Wisconsin violence disruptors! The Roca Impact Institute is partnering with the Green Bay Office of Violence Prevention to offer a free training for frontline staff (and their supervisors) who work with youth at acute, elevated risk for violence. The training will teach Roca's Rewire CBT: a simple, skill-based approach to Cognitive Behavioral Theory that is effective as a behavior change intervention with the highest-risk young people. This training will take place on February 19-20 in Green Bay, WI . Learn more on WBAY TV: https://hubs.ly/Q0346pCb0 Sign up: https://hubs.ly/Q0346kVM0

In 2000, Roca learned the practice of Peacemaking Circles from the Tagish Tlingit people in the Yukon Territories. Circles create opportunities for young people, police, and community members to understand and empathize with each other, learn to take accountability for causing harm, and begin to forgive those who have harmed them. 25 years later, Peacemaking Circles are still one of our best tools for community healing. #ThrowBackThursday #CommunityHealing #PeacemakingCircles

Roca’s impact reaches far beyond the young people who walk through our doors in Massachusetts, Baltimore MD, and Hartford CT. In just the last four years we’ve coached 75 organizations in 54 cities to rethink how they work with the highest-risk young people. This work will touch tens of thousands of young people's lives. Learn more in our 2024 Annual Report: https://hubs.la/Q033B2lN0 Or watch how this work plays out in Baltimore on WBAL TV: https://hubs.la/Q033B4wb0 #NationalImpact #SystemicChange #ComminityViolenceIntervention #CollaborationMatters

The reduction in gun violence in Baltimore and Boston validates the collaborative efforts in both cities to address the root causes of violence with holistic strategies. But we're not satisfied yet and are steadfast in our commitment to continue to work relentlessly with police, city, state and federal agencies, and other stakeholders to continue to save and change the lives of more young people. “It’s not one person, one group, one entity that’s responsible. It’s everybody partnering, working together, understanding what everyone is capable of doing and their expertise in this space.” —Kurtis Palermo, EVP of Roca Maryland https://hubs.la/Q032QGqT0

With this award, Roca can keep reaching out to incarcerated young people—starting when they're behind they wall and sticking with them as they transition into the community. We see the changes—big and small—every day in the young people we support, and the data confirms the impact of intervention with a reincarceration rate 30% lower than the state average. We are grateful to the Healey-Driscoll Administration for their partnership and support.
Congratulations to the nonprofits awarded funds to deliver #reentry services to emerging adults across Massachusetts. The Emerging Adult Reentry Initiative has been a proven success. Participants were found to have a one-year recidivism rate of only 24% compared to the national average of 43%. #secondchances
