Saunders Norwood Construction recently celebrated the Grand Opening of our newly completed HVAC Upgrades and Building Refresh project at the historic Pioneer Museum. Together with the City of Colorado Springs, CSNA Architects, and many other partners, we’ve helped preserve this 121-year-old landmark. The project has modernized the museum’s HVAC system, enhancing guest comfort and implementing a humidity control system to protect the longevity of the artifacts. Additionally, we’ve expanded exhibit spaces to showcase 865 more artifacts and introduced a new area where visitors can observe the meticulous restoration work of museum staff.

In September 2021, Saunders Norwood Construction completed the Safe Passage project in Colorado Springs, a safe and welcoming facility that will serve over 1,000 children. Safe Passage is a non-profit focused on supporting abused children to give them healing resources acting as the single source of contact for medical, investigative, and legal services. This space will support the vital services Safe Passage provides, primarily in El Paso and Teller Counties, and help create a sanctuary for healing and recovery. The project included the renovation of an existing facility to accommodate a shared floor plan with multiple agencies to support Safe Passage’s mission. This includes the groups of Safe Passage, CSPD (Colorado Springs Police Dept.), a Medical Clinic, KidPower, and DHS (Dept. of Human Services). All of these groups have their own space and share many areas within the renovated facility. A big thank you to everyone involved in making this project a reality. Together, we're building a safer community. #BuildingWhatMattersinColoradoSprings www.safepassagecac.org

Last July, Saunders Norwood Construction finished up the UCHealth Memorial North Hospital Birth Center, a buildout of 12,000 square feet of existing space on the 2nd and 3rd floors. The buildout includes new post-partum patient rooms and support services as well as additional Labor, Delivery and Recovery (LDR) patient rooms, and renovations to the nurse station and equipment rooms to support the additional patient rooms. This project represents our commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure and serving our community with excellence. A big thank you to all who contributed to this project. The Saunders Norwood team had an amazing day showing bright STEM students with the Society of American Military Engineers around the site of the United States Air Force Academy Wecker Hall project. This will be the campus' first net-zero carbon building! 🌱🔋 It was incredible to see their enthusiasm and curiosity as they learned about geothermal heating and cooling systems. This tour was also with the help of RTA Architects and Farnsworth Group, Inc., thank you to all who participated!

Saunders Norwood is thrilled to kick off a new project alongside the talented architect RTA Architects! Excited to build another extraordinary project together.
RTA has been honored to work with the US Air Force Academy Foundation and the Air Force Academy’s Association of Graduates on the design of a new administration building. Located just west of Doolittle Hall, Wecker Hall is poised to foster a dynamic and collaborative work and meeting space for both organizations. The new Yost Plaza unifies the expanded Doolittle Campus by linking the two buildings with the Heritage Trail, the iconic Pegasus statue, and a new class ring sculpture celebrating distinguished contributors to the Foundation. Construction broke ground at the beginning of May and is scheduled to be completed next Spring.
