Reducing energy, water use, and GHG emissions of buildings through education and partnerships. bit.ly/3sqyMVK
About us
The Seattle 2030 District is a 501(c) (3) organization whose mission is helping building owners, managers, developers and other industry professionals substantially reduce their environmental impact in the downtown area. Our goal is to reduce energy, water use, and CO2 emissions by 50% in existing buildings by 2030. While individual buildings will have specific opportunities for energy reductions, a district approach will provide the opportunity for district-wide heat recovery, distributed generation, and other district energy efficiencies that can reduce the demand for resources. The 2030 District will provide members a roadmap to own, manage, and develop high performance buildings by leveraging existing market resources and by creating new tools and partnerships to overcome current market barriers. This type of collaborative action is a strategic undertaking to help the City of Seattle meet its goal of carbon neutrality by 2030 and represents a major investment in Seattle’s future.

Developed in the early 1940s by Seattle Housing Authority, Yesler was the city’s first publicly subsidized and racially integrated housing community. As a proud sponsor of the Seattle 2030 District, Vulcan Real Estate is investing $200 million in the area’s aging infrastructure, creating over 650 apartments, including 130 affordable homes. This initiative aims to ensure housing for diverse income levels through the Seattle Multi-family Tax Exemption program. Beyond the new housing, Yesler offers stunning views of Mount Rainier and Puget Sound, easy access to public transportation, pocket parks, beautiful public art, and thoughtful retail. As Seattle continues to grow, the collaboration between the public and private sectors is crucial to fostering an inclusive community where everyone can share in the city’s economic prosperity.
