This year’s changes to the 2024-2025 FAFSA posed challenges for many families, but there’s still time to apply for financial aid for the 2024-2025 school year. As part of a nationwide push to boost FAFSA completion, SEED’s college success experts are hosting free FAFSA Completion Workshops in communities across the country to make sure college students don’t miss out on critical financial aid. About us
The SEED School of Los Angeles County (SEED LA) will open in Fall 2022 as California’s first urban public college preparatory boarding school, the fourth SEED school in the nation. Building a ninth-grade cohort each year, our goal is to have 125 ninth-grade students enrolled for Fall 2022. By the 2025-2026 school year, SEED LA will empower roughly 400 students in Grades 9-12 to achieve their full potential through our 24-hour learning environment. Our partnership with LA Metro provides a unique opportunity for students to advance their skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) while engaging in hands-on learning in the transportation field. Our innovative model integrates a rigorous academic program with a nurturing boarding program that develops the whole child. This boarding school model provides a comprehensive solution to the challenges facing urban youth and serves as a prototype for expansion nationwide. All SEED students live on campus between Sunday evenings and Friday afternoons. Our model has proven successful: over 90 percent of SEED graduates have been accepted to four-year colleges and universities throughout the country and over 60 percent remain enrolled in college or have already earned college degrees.

As the Founding Head of School, I am so incredibly grateful to be a part of the Cambiar Catalyst Fellowship for School Systems Leaders! Application is opening up to be a 2024 Fellow. Please consider this transformation work alongside others who are disruptive leaders!
Last week our 2023 Catalyst Fellowship cohort finished their 2nd (of six) learning experiences in New Orleans. It was a powerful opportunity to learn and build community. As one of our fellows said: "It is easy to get lost in the forest and not acknowledge the beauty and opportunity of the moment I am in. I appreciated the space and time at the learning experience to take a step out of my day to day and recognize my current position of power and proximity to power. I have the opportunity to drive great change and I want to consider new ways to channel that!" If you are a school systems leader who is interested in engaging with this type of community, we encourage you to apply to the Cambiar Catalyst Fellowship by November 17th. 15-minute meeting: https://lnkd.in/djrTdFD7 Application link: https://lnkd.in/d-DNAzRx Luke Lennon Markisha Mitchell, Ed.D.
