Senior Strategy and Development Officer
Ardal Procurement have an exciting opportunity to join our award-winning Strategy & Development Team hosted by Cardiff Council. The Senior Strategy Officer (Carbon) main focus will be developing, maintaining and managing the delivery of well-being policy (circular procurement, carbon reduction, fair work, and foundational economy procurement), including where appropriate methodology, documentation, guidance and training for Ardal Councils. The post holder will be required to support Senior Managers across Ardal Councils and our operational Category Management Teams to maximise the delivery of circular procurement and carbon reduction through Ardal’s procurement activity. Ardal is a new procurement collaboration across the four local authorities serving the people and communities of Cardiff, Monmouthshire, Torfaen and the Vale of Glamorgan. #ProjectBankAccounts From January 2025, Welsh Gov will be nominating banks who meet a set criteria, and signposting them as service providers for PBA policy - making things faster & simpler. As of today, Barclays & Lloyds are signed up, with another potentially joining by 1st Jan. PBAs represent best practice in ensuring fair and prompt payment in the supply-chain, ensuring improved cash flow, helping to reduce supply chain failure for Welsh business. In addition, as they speed up payment, they provide the opportunity to put that money to work more quickly to the benefit of our economy and local communities. #SEWSCAP4 #PBA

“Last year, I think it was around August time, we went to Sport Wales, which is in Cardiff, and we did a dragon's pitch to the four dragons. There were two people from StreetGames, and there were two SEWSCAP people. And we showed what we found in our community, about what girls want to see in sport, and we asked them for the amount of money that we were required for our project. And I think it was around September that we found out that we got the funding. Since then, we've been doing projects such as these for Muslim girls mainly, who have never really seen something like this before in their community. Some of these girls have come to us since the beginning, and they've become so much more confident.
