“Last year, I think it was around August time, we went to Sport Wales, which is in Cardiff, and we did a dragon's pitch to the four dragons. There were two people from StreetGames, and there were two SEWSCAP people. And we showed what we found in our community, about what girls want to see in sport, and we asked them for the amount of money that we were required for our project. And I think it was around September that we found out that we got the funding. Since then, we've been doing projects such as these for Muslim girls mainly, who have never really seen something like this before in their community. Some of these girls have come to us since the beginning, and they've become so much more confident. I've loved seeing their confidence grow and how much they've enjoyed it as well." - Rosheen Khan, Volunteer Coach ⚽🌱 "The Ardal group is proud to support this great initiative that benefits our local communities. Well done to all at StreetGames and to all the volunteers for your continued hard work." Today (20th June) is World Refugee Day, so a perfect time to celebrate the partnership between Ardal and the Welsh Refugee Council (WRC). As part of our ongoing #CommunityWellbeingBenefits work, and via funding through our SEWSCAP framework, we have been able to support the Welsh Refugee Council in its vital work. Our funding has enabled WRC to purchase computers for its ‘lived experience volunteers’ within its Education and Employment team, marking a transformative step in enhancing its services for sanctuary seekers and refugees. Here's what Ardal funding through its SEWSCAP framework and partnership with StreetGames UK has meant to the team at Valleys Gymnastics Academy 🤸🌟 "StreetGames funding has given us many opportunities to do great courses such as The Introduction to Doorstep Sport, Engaging Women and Girls in Sport, and Managing Challenging Behaviour. Also, some of the girls did their Tennis Activator course, which has helped them to run the sessions on Saturday." Valley's Gymnastics Academy is also participating in the Tesco Stronger Starts scheme right now. If you're shopping in a local Tesco store, please ask for a blue token and pop it in the collection point! #CommunityWellbeingBenefit #StreetGamesUK #SEWSCAP
