Last week The Citadel Club of the Palm Beaches and Treasure Coast held their “cadet sendoff” meeting at the offices of Simmons and White. New club president and SW Project Engineer Eric Vettel, E.I. (’21) led a great night that included special guest speaker Jay Dowd, President and CEO of The Citadel Foundation. Guests included three recent graduates (and their parents) from local high schools who will be entering their freshman year at The Citadel this fall. They were able to ask the club members a variety of questions on campus life to ease their nerves for the upcoming school year. Special thanks to dinner hosts Dean Levalley and his son, Zac Levalley (’20), and to Jay for making the trip down from Charleston. Before he headed back to South Carolina, he was able to spend some time with Rob on a successful inshore snapper trip. 🎣 #citadelalumni

Ray White, founding partner of Simmons & White, was in town for a visit this week! Lunch with the Partners at the Rybovich Mega Yacht Boat Facility was a home run, then Ray and Rob spent the afternoon catching lane and mutton snapper for dinner. 🎣 Lots of memories, fish stories, and catching up.

On Friday, April 26th, Simmons & White sponsored the Florida Engineering Society’s Golf Jamboree at the Wellington National Golf Club. Our foursome included Seth Spiegel (Channing Corporation), Jamie Parrish (SW), Rob Dinsmore (Urban Design Studio), and Rob Rennebaum (SW). Our office has participated in this fundraising event for decades, and this year was one of the best ever! Our team finished 9 under par and enjoyed absolutely amazing weather and great fellowship. ⛳️ Simmons & White is proud to support the Florida Engineering Society, our premier professional society supporting numerous local engineering programs and providing a voice in Tallahassee for the engineering profession. This year’s golf tournament served as a fundraiser for the Richard A. Rogers Scholarship Fund and the ‘MATHCOUNTS’ program. Many thanks to our chapter board and all of the volunteers that made this event a great success this year. #civilengineering #fes

The Citadel alumni Rob Rennebaum, PE, ‘84, Greg Bolen, PE, ‘97, Kyle Duncan, ‘99, and Cody Floyd, PE, ’18, were back on campus last week in Charleston, SC, reconnecting with their mentors while engaging with the next generation of innovative engineers. Rob, Greg & Cody served as guest instructors for two sophomore classes of ‘Survey 205,’ hosted by Professor and Department Head Dr. Jeff Davis, PE. They led a discussion on what to expect post-graduation including the importance of surveying in today’s civil engineering industry, life skills such as financial planning and money management, and what extra steps to take now that will enhance their entry into the job market. Greg, Kyle & Rob also reunited with one of their most impactful and influential professors during their time at The Citadel, retired Professor Thomas R. Dion, PE, PLS, class of ’68. Professor Dion taught a variety of classes throughout their freshman to senior years, such as a notable Land Development Course that included a Senior Capstone Land Development Project. He literally wrote the book on the course (along with many others!), and his invaluable lessons are still applied and referenced in the SW office today. Also included is an alumni feature from The Citadel Magazine – 1999! #civilengineering #citadelbulldogs #collegementors #fbf
