    BetterBrand™ customers deserve better 🚩🚩🚨🚨🚩🚩🚨🚨… First it was “hostile takeover” then it was a “Shopify glitch” then it was “everything is fine” then it was “employees are stealing” then it became “employees and fulfillment center are stealing” The story keeps changing with a consistent lack of accountability for the year of moldy bagels, and sub par product being shipped to folks not to mention those who have been waiting for months for their subscriptions When a company raises at such a high valuation—they should expect higher scrutiny, when they are dealing with food and beverage IN GENERAL they should expect people to have a higher standard for a premium product in general Not only is Better Brand failing customers but I’ve spoken to service vendors who are owed money for months— Blaming it on employees doesn’t explain either how they’ve been putting out terrible quality while expanding their SKUs??? Why is it only after a year of failing consumers they are now “being transparent” Why are they deleting the comments trying to hold them accountable for lack of refunds and deliveries? At one point I really want us to have a serious conversation on how venture capital has corrupted cpg and enabled bad players to smear the industry like this — You can only keep fooling customers for so long…

    Yassified peppercorn 🚨👏 If you’ve read Snaxshot you know I’ve written extensively on the cultural convergences of what has led to what I’ve dubbed “pretty pantry paradigm” Millennials and GenZ alike different from previous generations wherein we view these mundane grocer items as an identity extension, vs the very simple bifurcation of Boomers (brand vs off brand with focus on utility) No matter what people may think they want—our generation gravitate towards pretty packaging. GenZ in particular finds itself splurging on groceries—a form of affordable affluence. And why private label itself is adapting see Trader Joe’s PL rebranded as “dupes” and Walmart launching a new “yassified” PL just to appeal to GenZ More as usual—by subscribing to my newsletter 🛒👀

    Chatting with Massachusetts Institute of Technology students next month! 🎓 Putting together goodie bags for over 60 students in food/ag tech/consumer. Love doing stuff with students like we've done previously at New York University, Cornell University and Columbia University 😇 Excited to chat and discuss products in real time with them! I'll be surveying them after to see what they have to say about: branding, price parity, and of course taste! Have a few brands on board now, if you think your product would be a perfect addition for college student, would love to include it!
