Last weekend I had the honor of attending the Society of Family Planning Conference in Detroit, Michigan! Over the course of the weekend I served as an undergraduate representative for my Reproductive Health Post Roe v. Wade Bass Connections research team. I had the opportunity to connect with physicians from all over the United States, learn about organizations that are fighting for reproductive rights, and attend informative sessions regarding reproductive health in The United States and around the world. Overall, it was a great experience and I’m grateful that I was able to share my passion about the work that our team has done over the past year with others!

“Anytime we see an increase, we are very careful to not say ‘oh, now we’ve done it!’ because that underlying need is really elusive to be able to quantify,” said Jenny O'Donnell, ScD, senior director of research and evaluation at the Society of Family Planning. https://lnkd.in/esXu9AKb

Access the new #WeCount report, released today. This report, for the first time ever, includes the number of abortions provided via telehealth under shield laws to residents of each state with an abortion ban. The findings demonstrate how abortion access has shifted over the two years since the Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade and how a fragmented system of abortion provision has stepped up to meet the immense need for care across the country. https://lnkd.in/gVTj6zWs

Please welcome next week's CPD Seminar speaker Anna Crawford! Anna's dissertation proposal, funded by a grant from the Society of Family Planning, examines the role of intersectionality in abortion policy advocacy with a focus on reproductive justice. Not only do marginalized communities disproportionately feel the policy effects of abortion regulations, but they also have an unequal voice in the policy processes that shape regulations. Through a series of semi-structured interviews and surveys with pro-abortion-access advocates in Wyoming, Colorado, and New Mexico, she seeks to understand how intersectionality affects what advocates believe, how they build coalitions, and whose voices they represent in policy debates. Please join us in room 500 or via Zoom (http://bit.ly/3TjIDLU). #CPD #CUDenver

I'll present the latest findings from REACH Youth (Reproductive Equity and Access in College Health) at the Society of Family Planning Annual Meeting #SFP2024: Association of experiences of discrimination with concerns about accessing contraceptive care among community college students in Texas and California. I'm especially thrilled that our poster is eligible for an award as one of the highest-scored posters. Regardless of the outcome, it's encouraging to see that the field recognizes the importance of addressing reproductive coercion, systemic racism, and discrimination. The support from the Society in voting for this poster is already a win, it shows that we’re collectively moving toward advancing health equity! If you’re at #SFP2024, come check out our findings during the poster reception on Saturday afternoon. We’re poster #61!
