  • Compressed gas storage is one of the most established methods for storing hydrogen, widely used in both industrial processes and transportation. By compressing hydrogen to high pressures, this method offers a reliable and flexible solution, particularly for fuel cell vehicles and backup power systems. Explore how compressed gas is driving the hydrogen economy forward on our Hydrogen 101 page. https://lnkd.in/dkfnBWeJ

The partnership aims to advance hydrogen mobility through joint powertrain technology, offering sustainable zero-emission solutions for both commercial and passenger vehicles. This initiative supports the broader vision of building a hydrogen economy by promoting hydrogen refueling infrastructure and sustainable supply chains. Opel is debuting its new Movano HYDROGEN at IAA Transportation 2024, featuring a hydrogen fuel cell that offers a range of up to 500 km and can be refueled in under five minutes. Alongside this, Opel will showcase the Combo Electric and Rocks Electric with KARGO kit for emissions-free urban deliveries. These vehicles highlight Opel’s commitment to sustainable mobility through innovative electric and hydrogen technology, combining practicality with zero-emission performance in the commercial vehicle sector. The U.S. Department of Energy announced $17.1 million in awards for 15 small businesses advancing hydrogen and fuel cell technologies, including two winners from SHEA's 10-state: eSpin Technologies in Chattanooga, TN and Dioxide Materials in Boca Raton, FL. These grants support innovations in hydrogen infrastructure, fuel cells, and water electrolyzers, driving clean energy projects in the Southeast. This funding enhances the region's role in building a hydrogen economy, encouraging commercialization and sustainable development of zero-emission technologies. Toyota and Hyundai are in discussions to collaborate on hydrogen technology to strengthen the development of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles (FCEVs). Both companies aim to leverage each other's expertise to accelerate hydrogen adoption for commercial and passenger vehicles. The collaboration could enhance infrastructure, support global sustainability efforts, and further solidify their positions as leaders in hydrogen mobility. This partnership aligns with their goals of promoting zero-emission solutions and advancing the global hydrogen economy. • Keep up to date about the latest hydrogen developments through our news page https://seh2.energy/news/, or explore extensive resources on hydrogen in our library https://lnkd.in/d5F_5yya In the news this week— Great news for the Southeast! The U.S. Department of Energy has announced nearly $62 million in funding for 20 hydrogen projects across 15 states, with key wins in the SHEA 10-state footprint. These projects will advance hydrogen fueling infrastructure, support clean energy transitions, and create new job opportunities in our region. This is a significant step forward in positioning the Southeast as a leader in the hydrogen economy! #HydrogenEnergy #CleanEnergy #SoutheastLeadership #SHEA Toyota and BMW are partnering to strengthen their positions in the hydrogen car market by combining Toyota's hydrogen tank technology with BMW's mass production capabilities. This collaboration aims to reduce costs and compete with market leader Hyundai, despite challenges like high vehicle prices and limited infrastructure. The HYBRIT initiative has developed a hydrogen-based technology for iron and steel production that reduces CO2 emissions to near zero, offering superior product quality compared to traditional methods. After six years of successful research, the project is now progressing to industrial-scale implementation, aiming to significantly lower emissions in the steel industry and improve the overall efficiency of production processes. The Supreme Court's decision in *Loper Bright Enterprises Inc. v. Raimondo* has complicated the process for Treasury and the IRS in drafting regulations for tech-neutral energy tax credits under sections 45Y and 48E. The ruling challenges the deference typically given to agency decisions, leading to debates over the interpretation of key statutory provisions, particularly in defining emissions rates and the categorization of hydrogen fuel cells. Commentators have raised concerns about the proposed regulations, emphasizing the need for clear statutory guidance and questioning the inclusion of certain technologies and accounting methods. The situation highlights ongoing tensions in regulatory interpretation and the impact of judicial decisions on policy implementation.
