It's just over a week since we wrapped up the 7th #GlobalForumTBVaccine possible. Over 300 participants joined us at the Cidade Das Artes in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to explore the theme "Driving innovation from discovery to access". It was an inspiring week as we reflected on the promising science in the pipeline, from discovery to late-stage development and ongoing efforts to ensure new TB vaccines are accessible once available. Calls to action to finance TB vaccine development and ensure their equitable access were strongly aligned throughout the week, highlighting that the global is well aligned in pursuit of our shared mission to deliver new TB vaccine to end TB. A huge thank you to everyone who made the Forum possible, including the expert speakers, our dedicate planning and scientific advisory committees, the powerful action by the Community Engagement Committee and community members from around the world, and to our generous sponsors! We can't wait to share more reflections on this milestone event in the months to come!

Making sure that we eventually have new TB vaccines requires a multi-faceted approach. During the recently concluded 7th #GlobalForumTBVaccine we unpacked several contributing factors around this; 📢 The panel on our opening session brought up what is still needed to make TB vaccines a reality. 📢 The discussion session on 10th October tackled the need for us to move from political commitment to action to deliver new TB vaccines this decade. 📢 We ended things with Plenary 6 that looked at enabling TB vaccine development through funding, political will, open science, and engaged communities. 📑 In support of the fight towards making new TB vaccines a reality, Leigh Raithby from Results Canada shares her reflections on the 7th Global Forum on TB Vaccines on the Stop TB Canada website. 🔗 https://bit.ly/4eVTdBE

After a memorable time gathering together at the 7th #GlobalForumTBVaccines over 2 weeks ago, this week we want to reflect on several discussions and interactions that took place. 🩺 Sub-clinical TB is now being taken as a critical research gap since this form of TB also contributes to cases. 📢 Under one of our Plenary 3 talks, we got to hear from Gavin Churchyard at the The Aurum Institute on the implications of sub-clinical TB on vaccine trial design and development. 📑 The inclusion of sub-clinical TB as an endpoint in clinical trials still requires more evidence. We also need to think about adequate definitions of subclinical TB, especially in children and appropriate clinical trial design options to match this. 🧾 To delve more into these aspects have a look at the review published this October by Gavin Churchyard and colleagues around this topic. https://lnkd.in/djBSYP4v
