First steps are hard. They require careful planning, calculated risk, and most of all, courage. We took a daring first step earlier this month with the completion of TA-1’s first powered flight, reaching high supersonic speeds approaching Mach 5. The flight was a landmark moment on our path to providing our customers and nation a reusable and routine hypersonic test capability. Congratulations to the Stratolaunch team and our partners on this achievement! Stay tuned on our progress as we prepare to fly our first fully reusable Talon-A vehicle, TA-2, later this year. #hypersonic #firstflight #LetsRoc

Meet Jacob Brown the Chief Engineer for the Talon-A program! “Talon-A is a hypersonic rocket plane that allows customers to fly their payload experiments in Mach 5+ flight conditions, collect their data, and receive their payloads back meeting both commercial and military test needs. As Chief Engineer for the Talon-A program, I am responsible for leading the engineering teams through the design, build, and test of the Talon-A vehicles. Working on this program with Stratolaunch has been an incredible experience and something I am grateful to be a part of.”

Stratolaunch is a proud partner of the MACH-TB Program and we support Congressman Lamborn’s call for increased testing to ensure national security. Rigorous and frequent testing is vital in advancing hypersonic innovation and reinforcing our country’s defense capabilities.
The US currently tests hypersonic systems roughly once per quarter. Representative Doug Lamborn emphasizes that, to keep up with adversaries, the military needs to be testing every week. Catch his full remarks here: https://lnkd.in/gJjKYkZx

On October 14, 1947 the Bell X-1 rocket engine-powered aircraft made history by becoming the first airplane to break the sound barrier, flying at a speeds of Mach 1.06. Today we’re building on the knowledge achieved by this historic flight to break new barriers in high-speed flight research with Stratolaunch's Talon-A reusable hypersonic vehicle designed to achieve speeds of Mach 5+ and beyond.
