The integration of automation and #AI system data with enterprise data (48%); 2. the need to collect data from multiple internal systems (45%); and 3. the need to identify the right data for reporting requirements (42%). The combined business will position itself as a sustainability service provider. Sustainable Energy First, founded in 1997, is based in Lytham St. Annes, Lancashire, United Kingdom. The company was known as BiU until 2022. The firm employs roughly 160 sustainability experts. The business mission is to solve #energymanagement problems in very large, complex commercial estates. Inenco, founded in 1968, is based in Lytham, Lancashire, United Kingdom. The acquired business helps UK companies to reduce #carbon, optimize #energyconsumption, ensure compliance, implement effective energy procurement strategies and control costs, the buyer said. Executive Departure: Executive VP and Chief Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Officer Laura Lane is exiting UPS, effective September 30, PRWeek reported. Lane will not be replaced. Instead, her responsibilities will be distributed to multiple UPS executives. For instance, sustainability functions will report to EVP and U.S. President Nando Cesarone, the report said. 2. Consultancy: Keep an eye on C3 Group, a two-year-old sustainability consultancy that's gaining momentum, Hull Is This reported. 3. Partner Program: My Green Lab has launched an Accelerator Partner Program. The organization develops standards for laboratories and laboratory products involving medical and technical innovations. 4. Partnership - Electric Vehicles and Telematics: A ChargePoint's #EV charge management software will integrate with Mercedes-Benz AG and #Setra brand buses. The software supports asset monitoring, real-time insights and advanced reporting capabilities. 5. Reducing #AI #EnergyConsumption:  SMC - Sustainable Metal Cloud said its immersion cooling technology is 28% cheaper to install than other liquid-based solutions, and claims the technology reduces energy consumption by up to 50%, CNBC reported. Sustainable Metal Cloud is an NVIDIA partner. 6. Apple Launch Event:  Apple will unveil the #iPhone16 and other new devices during a September 9 launch event at the company's headquarters. We'll be watching to see if or how Apple touts #carbonneutral or sustainable products at the gathering. During the 2023 launch event, a carbon neutral #AppleWatch surfaced. But some critics questioned the carbon neutral claims, since the associated formula included Apple purchasing #carbonoffset credits. 7. Microsoft - Solar Power:  Microsoft has agreed to buy #solarpower generated by panels on hundreds of public housing and government-owned buildings in Singapore, Bloomberg reported. M&A deal number 258 of 2024 (so far) in the #sustainability market. Ramboll has acquired K2 Management, a #renewableenergy consultancy focused on wind power and solar energy projects. The deal also includes a wind and solar data management software platform. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Ramboll, founded in 1945, is based in Copenhagen, Denmark. The global architecture, engineering and consulting firm specializes in buildings, transport, energy, environment & health, water, management consulting and architecture & landscape. K2 Management, founded in 2007, is based in Viby J, Denmark. The company focuses on onshore wind, offshore wind, solar PV, and wave and tidal energy projects. Key services include development, construction and installation, operation and advisory expertise. K2 Management also develops Meteor -- a wind and solar data management software platform. The platform "securely stores data from measurement devices, ready for easy review, analysis and download," K2 asserts. Tim Fischer, director for Ramboll’s global wind division, and Lars K Hammershøj, co-founder of K2 Management, offered prepared statements about the deal. The news: Aramex, which specializes in #logistics and transportation solutions, has hired Manosij Ganguli as group chief sustainability officer (CSO). Here are four things to know... 1. Business Scope and Scale: Aramex, founded in 1982, is based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). The company, backed by roughly 16,000 employees, specializes in multinational logistics, courier and package delivery capabilities. 2. Sustainability Strategy: Aramex produces an annual #sustainability report. Among the company's key goals: Achieving carbon neutrality by 2030 and #netzero by 2050. Sometime in 2024, Aramex plans to submit its targets to the Science Based Targets initiative (#SBTi). Among the milestones to note: The company achieved a 12% reduction in #carbonemissions per shipment in 2023, Aramex said. 3. Executive Experience: Manosij Ganguli previously served at the Energy Transitions Commission and Mission Possible Partnership (MPP) in London and as the Global Program Director at bp, Aramex noted. 4. Executive Perspectives: In a prepared statement, Manosij said: “I am honoured to join Aramex at such a transformative time in its sustainability journey. Today's M&A & funding news in the #sustainability market... 1. Funding - Nuclear Energy Startup:  Aalo Atomics has raised $27 million in Series A funding. Key investors include 50Y, Valor Equity Partners, Harpoon Ventures, Crosscut, SNR, Alumni Ventures, Preston Werner, Earth Venture, Garage Capital, Wayfinder, Jeff Dean, Nucleation Capital, and more. Special thanks to Earth Venture Capital for the heads up. 2. Funding - Real Estate: A Optiml, a digital platform for #NetZero real estate investment and renovation planning, has raised $4 million in pre-seed extension funding, TechEU reported. BitStone Capital led the round, and KOMPAS VC participated in the funding. 3. Exit? A Temasek is weighing a potential exit from an Indian joint venture with Schneider Electric, The Business Times reported. The asset, known as Schneider Electric India Pvt, is 65% owned by the Schneider and 35% owned by Temasek. Schneider Electric's business typically involves #smartbuildings; data centers and networks; infrastructure for electric utilities; and energy management/automation for industrial organizations. 4. M&A - Data Centers: Vaxil Bio and Green Data Centers have agreed to a reverse takeover deal. The agreement, first announced in May 2024, essentially is a reverse take-over of Vaxil, though the resulting business will be called Green Data Centers. Key focus areas include renewable energy power generation, battery and energy storage systems (BESS) and data center facilities. Green Data is an early stage company that had no revenue and a $1.3 million loss in 2023. 5. M&A - #RenewableEnergy Consulting: Ramboll has acquired K2 Management, a global consultancy company specializing in wind and solar energy. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. 6. M&A - Sustainable Aviation Fuel:  bp has acquired a stake in a Chinese sustainable jet fuel company for 350 million yuan ($49 million), giving the oil major a foothold in one of the world’s biggest aviation markets, Bloomberg reported. BP purchased a 15% stake in a subsidiary of Zhejiang Jiaao Enprotech Stock Co., the report said. The acquisition is subject to government approvals. 7. M&A - Consulting:  Sustainable Energy First, a sustainability and utilities specialist backed by Beech Tree Private Equity, has acquired sustainability consultancy Inenco Group. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. 8. M&A - #Recycling Technology: A LyondellBasell (LYB) will acquire APK AG of Merseburg, Germany. Partnership - Green Data Centers:  Singtel and Hitachi plan to collaborate on next-generation #datacenters and GPU Cloud in Japan and potentially the wider Asia Pacific region. The effort involves data centers, connectivity, green power solutions, cooling systems, storage infrastructure and data management. 2. Partnership - Hybrid Cloud:  Hitachi Vantara and Broadcom  have unveiled a private and hybrid cloud solution that allows customers to reduce their #EnergyConsumption and #CarbonFootprint. We don't know specific energy consumption figures for the offering. 3. Partnership - Supply Chain Risk Management:  RSM and Equifax have partnered to help customers assess new vendors and associated #SupplyChain risk calculations. 4. Partnership - Cloud Services and IT Consulting:  Accenture and (Amazon Web Services (AWS) have expanded their alliance to create the Accenture Responsible Artificial Intelligence (#AI) Platform powered by #AWS. 5. Cloud Services: Microsoft GM Sverre Brandsberg-Dahl is touting various cloud services to help energy companies reduce their carbon emissions. 6. IT Consulting and Supply Chains:  PwC plans to refresh its #NetZero Action Plan to focus on the decarbonation of its operations and supply chain, as well as continued efforts to reduce business travel emissions, Accounting Times reported. 7. IT Services - Recycling:  True MSP Limited is touting #ewaste reduction services -- which allow customers to donate their old tech, including laptops, monitors, cables and keyboards, to be recycled responsibly, Love Business East Midlands reported. 8. Liquid Cooling - Direct to Chip Technology: A LiquidStack has released CDU-1MW, a high-performance Coolant Distribution Unit (CDU). The technology is designed for generative AI, large language model (#LLM) and high-performance computing (#HPC) use cases. 9. R&D - Energy Transition: A Eaton is expanding its year-old Innovation Center near Montreal in Brossard, Quebec. The center researches distributed energy resources (DER) technologies. 10. Energy Transition Solutions:  GE Vernova has launched the Grid Solutions GRiDEA portfolio, a suite of solutions aimed at "decarbonizing the electrical grid." 11. Another Wind Farm Incident: GE Vernova's shares fell nearly 7% on August 23 following a turbine-blade failure at an offshore wind farm in the UK. 12. Talent - Real Estate Consulting: Knight Frank MENA has hired Wesley Thomson as the head of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) for the MENA region. 13. Solar Energy - CEO Change:  SolarEdge Technologies CEO Zvi Lando has stepped down. The CEO change comes amid continued SolarEdge #layoffs in mid-2024, following job cuts in early 2024. Four things to know... 1. Business Scope and Scale: Andersen, founded in 1903, is based in Bayport, Minnesota. The company, backed by roughly 13,000 employees, has manufacturing sites across North America and Europe. 2. Sustainability Strategy: Andersen's sustainability strategy spans various environmental, #renewableenergy and product certifications. Among the anecdotes to note: The Home Depot named Andersen as an Eco Actions Partner -- which recognizes the window and door maker for environmentally-focused manufacturing efforts. Also, Andersen earned the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)'s 2024 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award. Still, we don't know if Andersen has announced a #netzero deadline or various #carbonreduction targets. 3. George Bandy's Experience: Bandy previously was CSO at Darling Fibers, a polyester chip and fiber manufacturer. Earlier, he was head of worldwide circular economy at Amazon. He has also held CSO- and VP-level posts at such organizations as Mohawk Group, Interface and The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. 4. Partnership: Coforge has launched a #sustainability focused consulting service that taps Salesforce Net Zero Cloud. The relationship reinforces a small but growing community of consulting firms aligned with Salesforce's sustainability software platform. The new consulting service, known as Coforge ENZO, will "help customers address #decarbonization challenges and accurately measure and report on greenhouse gas (#GHG) emissions via sustainability consulting and diagnostic assessment services," Coforge said. Salesforce Net Zero Cloud allows customers to gather and manage #ESG (environmental, social and governance) data across suppliers, partners and the overall value chain, Salesforce asserts. Several #MSPs (managed IT service providers) along with business and technology consultants now leverage Salesforce Net Zero Cloud for their sustainability service catalogs.
