Joining forces towards a circular textile future: The Textile Race, which we collaborated on with Race Against Waste, concluded in October with impressive results! 7 teams of students from 5 schools actively participated in the Textile Race in the Dutch municipality of Westland, resulting in: ✅ almost 6000 kilograms of used textiles collected (the size of an average truck!) ✅ 54 garments repaired ✅ 1 clothing swap The feedback received from the teachers illustrates just how powerful engagement activities like this can be:  💬 “The Textile Race does not only bring the kids, but also the whole neighbourhood together in the race against Textile Waste.” 💬 “The amount of kilograms of textile we collected is incredible, but also a bit shocking. 8th October is World Circular Textiles Day ♻️ Currently, only 2% of post-consumer textiles are diverted to fibre-to-fibre recycling (in Europe). But how we transition from a linear to a circular model in the textile industry is a complex challenge. The T-REX Project has brought 13 partners together to address this with the aim of developing a scalable blueprint for closed-loop sorting and recycling of household textile waste across the EU. Last week, the T-REX Project consortium gathered at the Fashion for Good headquarters for our yearly in-person meeting. Two very busy days in Amsterdam were filled with status updates and alignment on the next steps in the project's concluding year. Most importantly, meetings like this provide an opportunity to strengthen collaboration between all partners – an important element of the textile industry's shift towards unlocking circularity. #TextileRecyclingExcellence #TRexProjectEU

This month, we kick off an awareness campaign about circular fashion practices in collaboration with the Fédération de la Mode Circulaire! 🗓️ From October 7 to November 8, 2024, learn more about repairing clothes, exchanging and selling unused fashion items, or donating and recycling. Each week, a specific theme will be explored on the Fédération de la Mode Circulaire's Instagram account and in workshops in Paris. We are excited to collaborate with Race Against Waste, an organisation with a mission to  inspire and involve everyone to participate in accelerating the transition to a circular economy. Race Against Waste engages young generations to get started with sustainability. Through educational action campaigns, children from more than 600 elementary schools in the Netherlands, Germany and France learn about the circular economy and energy conservation every year. In September and October 2024, we are organising a Textile Race together in the Dutch municipality Gemeente Westland as part of the T-REX Project’s citizen engagement activities.
