About us

TBI Warrior Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation. At TBI Warrior Foundation we work to improve the quality of life of veterans, civilians and children living with brain injury and their caregivers to help pave their path to success and independence. We seek to equip individuals with brain injuries, their families and caregivers to move forward in their futures through community integration, rehabilitation and vocational counseling, education, care and assistive device advocacy, and advancement programs. In the words of our founder, himself a brain injury survivor and Purple Heart combat wounded veteran, SFC(Ret.) Victor L. Medina, MRC, CRC: "The U.S. Declaration of Independence states “that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness”. It is clear that “all men” means ALL MEN AND WOMEN. Certainly, it does not exclude people with acquired disabilities after a TBI. Living with disabilities may cripple the ability to have the rights mentioned here. People with brain injuries have the right to life, the right to be free by regaining their independence, and they have the right to fulfill their dreams and pursue their happiness." Our purpose is to guide and assist survivors and their families in their own paths to a successful, independent life after injury.

    Every year, 2.8 million Americans are impacted by a traumatic brain injury (TBI), including a disproportionate number of children. Despite the frequency of TBIs, there’s a significant gap in knowledge, resources, funding, and care. Toyota’s Way Forward Fund brings together and supports the people and organizations working towards the best care for children and families. During a span of two days and three sessions this summer, more than sixteen grantees and fifty attendees shared resources and best practices. Connecting experts, organizations, new treatments, digital tools, and other emerging technology, all with the goal of bridging critical gaps in pediatric care. No one person has all the answers, but working together we can make a difference. #Toyota4Good #LifeatToyota

    At TBIWF, we are a community who believe wholeheartedly in the power of collaboration. TOGETHER, we CAN make a huge difference to better our communities. This rang true last month in the heart of our founder, Victor Medina, as we were honored to be recognized as one of the benefactors of a grant from a local charitable organization of businessmen, the BOERNE 100. Watching the presentation by a fellow grant recipient, BOERNE BLAZE SPECIAL OLYMPICS, Victor recognized how our organization's goals aligned and so he donated our grant to Boerne Blaze. What a pleasant surprise to see BOERNE 100 choose to recognize TBI Warrior Foundation's actions recently. See the gracious message from the BOERNE 100 CEO, Breck Harmel, below: "We’ve always believed this organization is not just about the donations we’re able to grant, but about the connections and relationships formed at our meetings. That’s why we highly encourage, and appreciate, your attendance at our quarterly meetings. By participating, you help us foster the groundswell of awareness and collaboration that is vital to the growth of our charitable community.  The power of this connection was on full display at our last meeting when Victor Medina, founder of the TBI Warrior Foundation, was so moved by the mission of one of our other presenters, Boerne Blaze, that he donated the full value of his grant to aid their cause!
