On this #IndigenousPeoplesDay, we celebrate the strength, creativity, and resilience of Indigenous peoples across the country, while highlighting the youth of the Oglala Lakota Nation in Pine Ridge, South Dakota. Through Outlast, a project founded by LT (South Dakota '21), local students are learning to tell their stories through film and media. This film camp provides the next generation with the tools to reclaim their narratives and inspire change in their communities. It's National Tutoring Week, and we’re celebrating with Houston Happens! 🎉 We had the incredible opportunity to discuss our Ignite Tutoring Fellowship in collaboration with Étoile Academy Charter School! 🏫

In Connecticut, the Teach For America Ignite Fellowship: ⏲ provided students with more than 3,500 of additional learning last semester 📈 helped participating students achieve, on average, more than 1 year of growth in the subject area they were tutored in ✨ Read more about Ignite's impact in CT here: https://lnkd.in/epn5uDjj.

To round out our week of highlighting Ignite, hear from Shene' Brown, an ASLF alumni and former Ignite parent. While Shene’ and Brian’s story is only one of many, every family and child deserve the same access and level of support they experienced. Half of all US students started the 2022-23 school year behind grade level, yet less than 10% of students received any type of district tutoring last year. Teach For America St. Louis is on a mission to change that by expanding the Ignite High-Impact Tutoring Fellowship, ultimately providing 600 students with an additional 10,800 hours of learning each year by 2030.

We partnered with five schools across St. Louis last year, including KIPP Wonder Academy! Nerina Stevenson was an Aspiring School Leaders Fellow and the Ignite school site leader, supporting tutors and students to meet their learning goals!
