Universities and research institutions are pillars of innovation, which makes them prime targets for foreign adversaries seeking to acquire cutting-edge technologies. The PRC and Russia, in particular, have leveraged academic partnerships, talent recruitment programs, and undisclosed funding channels to gain access to research with military applications. Strider COO and Co-Founder Eric Levesque was the keynote speaker on a panel at the Prague Cyber Security Conference discussing the importance of safeguarding research, science, and innovation against foreign threats. Joining Eric on the international panel were Estonia’s Ágnes Kasper (Head of Research, Chief of Law Branch, NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence), New Zealand’s Kevin Moar (New Zealand’s Director of National Security Policy, Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, and Czechia’s Ivana Karásková (Researcher, SCRC Charles University, and China Team Lead, Association for International Affairs). Any organization engaging with state-sponsored entities—across research and academia, industry, or government—needs thorough and actionable intelligence to make decisions that secure its people, technology, and organizational relationships with speed.

In today’s geopolitical environment, industry and academia join government on the frontlines of the battle for economic, technological, geopolitical, and data dominance. Strider COO and Co-Founder Eric Levesque hosted a networking dinner for business leaders in Prague to discuss how technology security bolsters national security. Industry leads the way in the development of cutting-edge technology that countries like Russia and the PRC are actively targeting—often through covert means such as espionage, IP theft, and deceptive partnerships. By arming industry leaders with tailored, actionable intelligence, we empower them to counter state-sponsored threats by safeguarding their organization’s people, technology, and supply chains.

“More and more, the threat [from nations like the PRC and Russia] is not just directed at [governments], but it’s directed at companies—large, small ones, start-ups, academic research institutes…You may not be interested in geopolitics, but geopolitics is interested in you!” Strider’s David Vigneault recently spoke with Combient about why industry leaders cannot turn a blind eye to the geopolitical landscape and the threats that exist. Industry leads the way in the development of cutting-edge technologies that competing nations are actively seeking to acquire. With operations in 15 countries, Strider equips leaders around the world with actionable intelligence to help safeguard their people, technology, and organizational relationships from state-sponsored threats.
Last month, we had a brief interview with David Vigneault, Managing Director of Strider Technologies and former Director of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service, after Combient Conference 2025. In this back stage interview, he spoke about the emerging nation state risks that global businesses are facing today, and how companies, particularly those in the Combient network, can prepare themselves for the rapidly shifting geopolitical landscape. David also featured at Combient Conference 2025, and shared his candid assessment on current global affairs. If you're a member of a Combient Associated Company, you can find his full remarks from the conference that day at the link in the comments after watching the video below.

We were a proud sponsor of the Ronald Reagan Institute’s 2025 National Security Innovation Base (NSIB) Summit, which took place in Washington, DC this week and applaud the Institute’s work on the 2025 #NSIB Report Card. The Report Card highlights 10 critical areas—such as talent, technology, and supply chains—where the US national security ecosystem is vulnerable to state-sponsored threats targeting American innovation. These same areas also present opportunities for mission-essential partnerships between industry and government. Our strategic intelligence platform transforms open-source data into actionable insights using advanced AI and proprietary risk methodology to help organizations identify and counter the nation-state threats to the assessment areas identified in the NSIB Report Card. Here at Strider, we will continue to work with organizations within and outside of government to deliver a whole-of-society approach to securing the American national security apparatus.
Today, our Center for Peace Through Strength published its third annual National Security Innovation Base (#NSIB) Report Card to measure the health, effectiveness, and resilience of America’s innovation ecosystem and provide recommendations for improvement. The first-of-its-kind assessment is a groundbreaking tool for policymakers to evaluate the coordination and productivity of the U.S. innovation base to support our national security goals. This year's report card features a new indicator focusing on manufacturing capacity and industrial base. The analysis identifies gaps in the supply chain and stockpiles of critical weapons. Complete NSIB Report Card and detailed assessments of each indicator can be found here: https://lnkd.in/e-Kb4xXn
