501(c)3 to support veterans and families of our fallen through scholarships, mentorship, and The Alaska Project retreat

About us

MISSION: Serve, connect, and provide healing to families of the Fallen and veterans while honoring our Fallen. The INTENT of this fund is to show solidarity and help veterans and their families by supporting, partially or fully, their needs following service to our nation. Three Pillars of The 98 Fund: 1) Mentoring retreat for Families of the Fallen (The Alaska Project) 2) Assistance to the Veteran and their Families 3) Educational Support to the Children of our Fallen ABOUT THE 98 FUND: Originally conceived in 2008 by members of the USMA's Class of '98 to support and honor classmates killed during combat operations, The 98 Fund was incorporated in VA and designated a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization. The 98 Fund has evolved through several stages: - Class Centric Fund Raising: Focused on classmates and immediate connections provided the baseline for our investments. - Public and Corporate Support: Corporate partners, organizations and the general public passionate about veterans and assisting the families of the Fallen. - The Alaska Project: Based on surviving family’s input, we learned the loss of a parent leaves a hole that is hard to fill by the surviving parent. A pilot program in 2015 partnered "Rock” with the eldest son of Major Paul Voelke to build a memorial log bridge. Refined over the years since, The Alaska Project provides mentorship to our surviving families with volunteers that knew their loved one. In 2020, The 98 Fund purchased property near Hatcher’s Pass, AK to create a permanent location for The Alaska Project and associated memorials. - Providing Help To Others: The 98 Fund provides direct & indirect support to others in need, included assisting other West Point classes to support those in need and we official partnered with The 99 Legacy Fund in 2021. - The Future: We remain committed to expanding the The Alaska Project to honor those we have lost, while trying to help vets in need, and honoring our original memorial scholarships.
