This blue-green algae, with its unique spiral shape, made its first appearance around three billion years ago. 🌀 🌿🏆 Spirulina is a nutritional powerhouse, packed with over 50 balanced nutrients. It's no surprise that it's the most cultivated algae worldwide! 🌍 🤝💙 Here at The Blue Atlas Project, we're on a mission. We're striving to enhance health and foster sustainable food systems through the promotion of Spirulina. But we can't do it alone. We need you. 💪🌟 By joining us, you can help us make a lasting impact. The Blue Atlas Project utilizes innovative agricultural methods to increase sustainable Blue Food practices
About us
The Blue Atlas Project is a 501(c)(3) whose mission utilizes innovative agricultural methods to increase sustainable practices in the Blue Food Industry We do this by providing infrastructure support and trainings to create, cultivate and strengthen the connection to local food systems to help foster a healthy and self-reliant community. The initiatives we administer aim to support community self-development in regions suffering from economic hardships, whether by disaster or man-made. Adding to both economic independence and health. Vision: We exist to create a world where communities are connected and invested in their own food source and enjoy direct benefit from the nutrition and the personal security and peace that comes through such connection. Each individual, family, and community deserve access to locally grown, inexpensive, nutritious food. The Blue Atlas Project advances efforts to restore community dignity, independence and self-reliance. We tailor our solutions to assist communities in growing nutrient dense food by increasing local food production in the Blue Food arena. We support communities in their pursuit of self-sufficiency and food sovereignty. The focus of Blue Atlas is grass roots – we aim to impact the community by working with the community.

Did you know Africa has been warming at about +0.3°C per decade between 1991 and 2023, slightly faster than the global average? This warming leads to extreme weather events, causing droughts and floods that devastate communities. On average, African countries are losing 2–5% of their Gross Domestic Product (GDP) due to these climate extremes. #blueatlasproject #donate #nonprofit #makeadifference #volunteer #fyp

The philosopher John Donne once said, “No man is an island... any man’s death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind.” The struggles in Africa remind us that we’re part of a shared human story. When we help uplift communities there—through programs like sustainable farming, disaster relief, or education—we’re not just changing lives in Africa; we’re creating a better, more stable, more compassionate world for everyone. #blueatlasproject #fyp #nonprofit #helpingothers #africa #hopecore

Here’s how it works: at the core, you’ve got fish—often tilapia or catfish—swimming in tanks. As they grow, the fish produce waste, which is pure gold for farming. That waste is rich in nutrients like nitrogen and phosphorus, the very things spirulina needs to thrive. Now, instead of letting that waste go to waste, we use it to feed the spirulina, which is grown in shallow water tanks nearby. #blueatlasproject #fyp #disasterrelief #trending #spirulina #volunteer

Another cool fact? Spirulina is harvested every 3 to 7 days. Compare that to most crops, where you’re looking at months before you see results. This makes it incredibly responsive to immediate needs—whether you’re scaling up production for disaster relief or meeting local market demand. And here’s the cherry on top: while producing all this protein and nutrition, spirulina is also a champion at sequestering carbon. Per unit of production, it absorbs more CO2 than most land-based plants, making it not only a food source but a climate solution. #blueatlasproject #fyp #trending #farming #environment #sustainability

When you think about kids going hungry, it’s not just about empty stomachs—it’s about stolen potential. Hunger robs children of the chance to grow and thrive. In Uganda, where so many families face food insecurity, we knew we had to do something bold and something that would make a real, lasting impact. That’s why we’ve invested in spirulina. Through the Blue Atlas Project, we’re not just bringing spirulina to Uganda—we’re building systems that make this life-saving superfood accessible to communities where it’s needed most. #blueatlasproject #fyp #helpingothers #bluefoods #payitforward #sustainability #hopecore #trending

Dr. King believed in a world where love and justice could move mountains, and it all starts with what we do for each other. So let’s live that today. Let’s take a page out of his book and show up for one another. #mlkday #blueatlasproject #fyp #trending #helpingothers #volunteers
