Working with businesses towards a low carbon, circular global economy

Good to be at #ClimateParty Goa today @Built3 representing Act4Goa Hearing about the climate change impacts in Goa: heat; intense rainfall; and rising sea levels. We’ve just witnessed this already with most recently the expected quantity of monsoon rain falling over two months rather than three .. In fact the rains are continuing. Many farmers have lost their crops in submerged fields, the rivers are red with run off and soil erosion. But beyond this, the weather is increasingly unpredictable affecting fishing & farming. Groundwater is increasingly becoming saline. Thanks Anirudh Kishore for explaining the challenge. Look forward to working on resilience & adaptation this evening! Some nice tools for thinking this through to be used. And thank you to Sayesha Dogra for bringing us all together. Prashant Vaze @nehaBhatia Johann Fernandes

As promised last week, we are here to cut the noise for you at New York Climate Week. You've probably already signed up for a gazillion events in the hope of making at least a handful of useful connections. But what if we told you we'll make it 20x efficient? We are planning serendipity for you so that you can ACTUALLY make the most of your time at NYC without FOMO. If you're heading to NYCW from India and are looking to meet people in a specific domain / sector but don't exactly know whom to meet, we'll get the right person to you. If you plan to be at NYCW and are looking to know about all the climate action happening in India from those making it happen, we're your genie. Is it magic? Hell Yes! It's The Climate Party secret spell we're casting ;) 𝐁𝐎𝐍𝐔𝐒: If you're an Indian founder NOT heading to NYCW but really want your product / service to reach there, we're also making that happen for you! To be clear, we're not organizing a fancy showcase event but we're welcoming damn creative ideas to make that showcasing happen anyhow. For starters, the TCP team at NYCW is happy to - adorn your products like we're doing for Un - The Upcycled Denim Revolution, - gift your products to your TG like we're doing for The Bean Loop, - highlight your names at the right forums (we have access to quite a variety) & get the right people excited about what you're building like we're doing for Ambiator Private Limited OR any other unconventional way you can come up with! We're also hosting an informal India-focused gathering. Details will be shared with whosoever exhibits their interest in the form below. We're ALL IN for putting India's climate-tech story at the world map. We're the gateway for the rest of the world for all the climate action in India. Join us for the ride. Won't you? That's my testimonial for the personal growth this outrageously rich 𝘴𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘪𝘶𝘴, The Climate Party®, has endowed me with. THANK YOU to the entire membership and team of The Climate Party®for making this happen. But then there are days when I strongly feel I'm not doing (things fast) enough to scale The Climate Party® and that may be true, but re-reading this testimonial (from my member self to my Founder self) gives me the temporary solace to get back to action. In the same vein, it only helps when an external, unbiased party talks about your work to the rest of the world and their readers text you with excitement to notify you of the feature :) Last month, ImpactAlpha, a US media company, covered The Climate Party®'s work in bolstering the climate-tech ecosystem in India - all thanks to Ryan Jones who spent enough time with us to understand & experience what we're building. The feature is an external view on the emerging Indian climate scene, so read it with a pinch of salt but it's great to see the massive interest build up happening FOR INDIA! (I say this with greater context from my numerous conversations with people across the globe). Read it here - https://lnkd.in/gzibzmET And as timely as it could get, we're taking The Climate Party®to #NewYorkCity next month. If you're a climate solutionist from India heading to the New York Climate Week or if you're someone looking to learn (deeply) about the Indian climate scene, The Climate Party® is your first point of contact to cut the noise in the mayhem that the Climate Week is! Details coming up later this week. *𝘐𝘧 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘷𝘦𝘴 𝘢 '𝘤𝘭𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘵', 𝘳𝘶𝘯!🏃♀️ 𝘊𝘭𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘰𝘰 𝘷𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘢𝘯 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘵.

We took a break from climate parties this month (and A LOT of you noticed🥹) to fuel & re-energize ourselves for the remaining 2024 and guess what we stirred up in the process... We're taking The Climate Party® to #NewYorkCity! 🗽 Before we spill the tea, here's what also happened last month. ImpactAlpha, a US media company, covered our work in bolstering the climate-tech ecosystem in India - all thanks to Ryan Jones who spent enough time with us to understand & experience what we've been building. It's an external view on the emerging Indian climate scene so read it with a pinch of salt 😉 but it's great to see the massive interest build up happening FOR INDIA! Read the piece here - https://lnkd.in/gZzrfzWc And as timely as it could get, we decided to paint NYC pink this September. If you're a climate solutionist from India or one from outside India seeking India climate insights, and heading to the NY Climate Week next month, The Climate Party® should be your first point of contact to cut the noise in the mayhem that the Climate Week will be! Stay tuned for the details coming this week. (Yes, we remember we haven't posted our July roundup yet 🙈 - that's coming soon too)

🏔️A few weeks ago I got to attend The Climate Party® for the first time exploring the intersection of Climate Change X AI - 2 major trending topics. 🎯Following an opening by the Swiss consulate calling for more interdisciplinary conversations integrating different perspectives on these topics, an engaging panel discussion ensued followed by a thought provoking and action oriented 🎲 game by ex-Google Deepak Sridhar that involved collaboration, role playing and different  elements of gamification for people  to brainstorm keeping alive energy systems. 👥The panel included- -  Sonika Choudhury of People+ai - an organisation building digital infrastructure and public goods for India. Sonika is building a circularity calculator ConsumeWise that provides data collection and verification around climate-related information. - Vidya Sridhar of Tech4Good Community - providing tech solutions on diverse topics from enabling non profits to improve efficiency to averting human-wildlife conflict. - Dinker George Mattam a Professor for practice in Machine learning from Atria University - working on projects like creating a sustainability index for a small piece of land- to measure weather, biodiversity. - @Abhishek of SatSure - focused on machine learning and AI in space tech, fintech, remote sensing, agro forestry and land use. 🌬️The conversation explored the complex interactions between Climate Change and AI - on one hand AI poses a threat to Climate goals but on the other it can also be a positive  force for good to combat Climat Change. 📛Challenges in AI for Climate Change- - Access to good quality data - How to get data in local Indian languages? - So many lakhs of water needed to cool processors for AI - Data centers consume more energy than entire days energy consumption of Australia -Are we delaying phasing off of fossil fuels? AI energy consumption of Microsoft comes in way of its GHG goals. 58% of Google GHG emissions increased in the last 4-5 years - As of now the costs outweigh the benefits - we need to understand we are constrained in planetary confines 💡Solutions - - Create synthetic data using AI to bridge gaps in data - Optical sensors  can't penetrate through clouds but radal sensors can - conducting deep fakes to get access to data - Customise open source data - eg. Kisan call centres- farmers call centers where they call to ask questions - use to collect data to make answers more appropriate to farmers -Nuclear power to power AI- it is a clean source, Amazon is already using it -Where we are using it and who is using it makes all the difference - SML compared to LLM where power consumption is lower -AI helps to predict weather- needed for climate adaptation Was great to see some familiar faces and spark some new connections Sancheeta Kaushal , Shelly Mittal , Alexander Hogeveen Rutter , Harshvardhan Sanghi , Mridu Jhangiani , Kaustub Rao

Storyteller | Climate Change | Public Policy

    - Why are traditional science comms ineffective while building climate action narratives? - Is new media doing better in raising climate awareness vs traditional media? - Who are the potential game-changing actors who need to board the climate storytelling bandwagon? - What does it take to make climate pop? (Borrowing from Antkind Collective) We engaged in these much-needed conversations with examples from the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW)'s work along with stories from Namrata KilpadyMairu Gupta and the other amazing people working on solutions at the latest Delhi-NCR The Climate Party®.
