The GFF @ The World Bank 2024 Annual Meetings During a #WBGMeetings Knowledge Cafe earlier this week, which focused on empowering women through health access—and how #UHC can be a catalyst for equality, GFF Director Juan Pablo Uribe emphasized the need for continued progress on reducing maternal mortality and strengthening #SRHR. He then highlighted the GFF's ongoing commitment to improving access to gender-responsive health care for women and girls—through financing and also by supporting evidence-based legal and policy reforms, providing commodities, and deepening country-led partnerships. #InvestInHealth #globalhealth

About us
Investing in women, children and adolescents is one of the most impactful actions a country can make. It improves population health, empowers women to be agents of change in their communities, and puts countries on a path towards development and prosperity. The Global Financing Facility (GFF) is a country-led partnership, hosted at the World Bank, that fights poverty and inequity by advancing the health and rights of women, children and adolescents. It does this by supporting countries to strengthen health systems and improve access to care through prioritized plans, aligned public and private financing, and policy reform.

HIGHLIGHTS—The GFF at World Health Summit 2024 As #WHS2024 concludes today, here's a look at a few of the stand-out points shared by GFF and World Bank representatives over the three-day summit on global health—along with the links to watch the session replays and hear from all of our stellar panelists: Financial Hardship to Advance Gender Equality and Universal Health Care WATCH: https://lnkd.in/e_4wwyeb Magda Robalo welcomed attendees to this session, cohosted by UHC2030 - Taking action for universal health coverage and the GFF, where panelists shared their views on the importance of gender-responsive policies in efforts to reach universal health coverage (UHC). Tjedu Moyo, Youth Representative to the GFF Investors Group and Executive Director, Lunia Centre For Youths Zimbabwe, spoke to the urgent need to make significant progress in all areas that have an impact on women's health: "My call to action is to improve health care access for young women, adolescents, and girls. We need community-level primary care, climate-resilient programs, nutrition and mental health services, essential sexuality education, and progressive laws." Highlighting the role of good data—and data analysis—in achieving equitable health care, GFF Head of Secretariat Luc Laviolette noted that it's not enough to say we focus on women, children, adolescents. Reaching #UHC requires a deliberate approach. The GFF has developed a way of looking at data every six months to identify barriers to services and inform gender-responsive policy. # # # Climate and Health Financing: Pathways to Resilience WATCH: https://lnkd.in/gbg2kFdE Cosponsored by the GFF, Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and The World Bank, this session gathered global and country leaders and youth advocates to discuss health financing policies amid the impacts of climate change on women, children and adolescents. When asked how the audience could support the climate and health financing agenda, Dr. Monique Vledder, Practice Manager, Global Health, Nutrition and Population, World Bank, shared this reminder: “We are all leaders, from whatever position we are in—so use your leadership for the same goal.” Tjedu Moyo emphasized how—in order to have meaningful participation in shaping health programs that fully account for the impact of climate change on the health of community members—youth must be engaged in the process from the start—through to implementation and evaluation. This isn't just a "nice to have." This is what it takes to have a local approach and drive results. # # # Thank you to everyone who contributed their time, energy and insights to inspire and motivate the global health community at this year's summit. Working together, we will continue to move the needle toward achieving #healthforall.

Phenomenal session organised by UHC2030 - Taking action for universal health coverage and The Global Financing Facility (GFF) at #WHS2024 on addressing financial hardship to advance gender equality and #UHC. So much food for thought, especially around sexual and reproductive autonomy by Dr. Adepeju Adeniran, the incredible health insurance achievements in Pakistan led by Taimur Khan Jhagra, the crucial role of data-driven approaches to inform decision-making by Luc Laviolette, and more… And of course so many questions on #intersectionality and where #disability inclusion and #HealthEquity for women and girls with disabilities fit into this picture!
