Tomorrow.io's expanding constellation of weather satellites is creating a critical missing link: high-resolution, global data for training and initializing AI models with real-time observations. This data will not only enhance the accuracy of Tomorrow.io's own models but also has the potential to significantly advance the field of weather prediction and climate modeling. The satellites are now undergoing initial commissioning, with preliminary datasets expected in the coming weeks. Tomorrow.io's sounder technology is derived from NASA’s TROPICS mission, and the company is concurrently set to rebuild NOAA’s digital infrastructure through the Earth Prediction Innovation Center (EPIC) program. Here's this week's weather snapshot: 🌀 Tropics Update: Hurricane Ernesto has moved north-northeast at 21 mph. Thankfully, no impacts are anticipated for the U.S. coast. Additionally, no other tropical developments are expected over the next week. 🌩️ Northeast U.S.: Watch out for strong to borderline severe storms sweeping across the Atlantic seaboard early in the week. Expect wind gusts of 35-45 mph, potent enough to topple trees on saturated ground. The silver lining: dry conditions are forecast to settle in for the remainder of the week in these regions. 🌞 Summer Heat Across the Central and Southern U.S.: Persistent scorching temperatures will bake areas from Texas to Oklahoma and eastern New Mexico, with highs soaring between 100-115°F throughout the week. This heatwave will expand into the central and northern plains midweek, hitting 95-105°F across Kansas, Nebraska, the Dakotas, eastern Wyoming, and eastern Montana. Peak temperatures will hit on Saturday, with oppressive highs of 100-110°F expected across a broad swath of the central and southern states. 🌦️ Northern Rockies/Northern Plains: Scattered showers and thunderstorms will pepper regions like Nebraska, the Dakotas, Montana, and Wyoming on Wednesday afternoon/evening.
