🌍 Reflecting on an incredible Climate Week experience that ended just over a week ago! 🌟 Representing Microsoft's Cloud Logistics team alongside my operational partner Coro was a true honor. Here are some key takeaways: 1️⃣ Meeting my professional idol, Vice President Al Gore, in a closed-door session with industry leaders and Climate TRACE to discuss embedding emissions metrics in supply chain decision-making using data. 📈 2️⃣ Collaborating with the Climate Group, government, and value chain stakeholders to decarbonize the U.S.-Mexico border for truck drayage. 🚚🌱 3️⃣ Joining forces with the Smart Freight Centre and CALSTART members to promote greater deployment of BEV trucks in the U.S. and EMEA. 🚛⚡ 4️⃣ Engaging in roundtables hosted by Ceres, Inc. and the Transport Decarbonisation Alliance to accelerate global BEV truck deployments, including in the global south. 🌏🚛🔋🌎 5️⃣ Meeting with Sustainable Aviation Buyers Alliance (SABA) and The Aspen Institute to drive collective demand for sustainable aviation and maritime fuels. 🌱✈️⚓🌱 6️⃣ Working with the Smart Freight Centre, RMI and other corporates to advance high-quality insetting mechanisms for faster deployment of sustainable fuels. 🛢️ A big shoutout to Coro Celigüeta Azurmendi for joining and learning alongside me. Two weeks ago I had the pleasure of attending a very informative and extremely inspiring New York Climate Week #climateweekNYC! It was amazing to see the ever vibrant city filled with events centered around global climate change and solutions that are implemented to tackle it. I had the pleasure of co-organizing an event that focused on global collaboration to accelerate the roll-out of zero-emission (ZE) trucks, together with our partners CALSTART, Climate Group, The International Council on Clean Transportation, the Transport Decarbonisation Alliance, the UC Davis Institute for Transportation, and the Center for Law, Energy & the Environment at Berkeley Law. A big thank you to Jennifer Helfrich for the amazing work she did to prepare and host the event. I would also like to give a shout out to Matteo Muratori, who joined us as an expert on the topic 'infrastructure and the grid', and whom I had the pleasure of supporting as a moderator during our table discussions. Some interesting take-aways from New York that I would like to highlight: ⛽ Although fossil fuels have only recently become a part of the discussion (they weren't yet included in the Paris agreement), they have finally been recognized as a major polluter and pivotal sector to address in order to mitigate climate change. 🚘 Volvo announced it will produce its last diesel car model in early 2024. This is the first legacy car maker to take this step! 🚚 Climate change disproportionately harms people of color and disadvantaged communities. Trucks are shown to disproportionately pollute the air in areas mainly populated by these communities. 🚗 Tesla explained how they reduce the negative impact of their distribution processes on local communities by planning their routes to specifically avoid schools and hospitals. 🌍 We must recognize the incredible work indigenous people around the world are doing to protect the most important ecosystems we have. Our modern science only shows us a part of what is really going on.  🔌 The transition to ZE technologies will happen for all on-road vehicles eventually, as it will be the more sensible option both environmentally and socially, but also economically. However, we just need to ensure the transition happens fast enough. 

We commend our TDA member, #Quelimane, for their active involvement alongside Mr. Mayor Manuel Araujo in emphasizing the vital role of cities in the #RaceToResilience and their contribution to providing practical climate adaptation solutions for Africa at the #African Climate Summit #AfClimateSummit.

#BritishColumbia spearheads a transformation within the heavy-duty #transportation sector, promoting cleaner and more sustainable practices. Provincial support is propelling the commercial vehicle industry in British Columbia towards a #cleantransportation economy, enabling organizations to attain their #climate objectives, cut operational expenses, and maintain their competitive edge. Three Cleanbc programs have received fresh funding to further bolster this transition, aimed at incentivizing the industry's adoption of zero-emission vehicles. These programs include the Commercial Vehicle Pilots (CVP) program, the Commercial Vehicle Innovation Challenge, and initiatives designed to enhance charging infrastructure for medium- and heavy-duty vehicles. The unification of these two companies aims to capitalise on the expanding opportunities in the commercial electric truck market.
