“As of this quarter of this fiscal year, we've protected over 50,000 acres, we've got about 90,000 acres around Fort Stewart that is permanently protected from incompatible development, which is great news. We've got a ways to go; We're about halfway to our goal.” ~ Larry Carlile, Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield Fish and Wildlife Branch Chief US Army U.S. Army Installation Management Command U.S. Army Materiel Command

Check out the feature article on how the Coastal Empire is tackling regional workforce challenges by turning to our transitioning Soldiers and their families in this month's Georgia Trend. “If you hire a spouse and you give them a good opportunity and quality of life, what are the chances that they’ll stay here or that they re-enlist to stay here?” said Col. Marc Austin, Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield garrison commander. “Now maybe it’s five to seven years. When they retire from the military, maybe they come back to live here if they’ve left, or they stay here when they separate because the spouse has a stable job with benefits, allowing the military member to transition without thinking, ‘I need a job right away to support the family’” US Army U.S. Army Materiel Command U.S. Army Installation Management Command Savannah RISE

Resident concerns were ablaze last night during Fort Stewart’s on-post housing town hall where residents raised concerns over maintenance accountability, confusing service timelines and speeding. The event served as an open platform for on-post family housing residents to voice their concerns and receive support from garrison leadership, housing representatives, and family housing partner, Balfour Beatty. Over 25 community leaders, family members and Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield leaders participated in the second Coastal Community Connnections hosted by the Richmond Hill Bryan County Chamber of Commerce at the Richmond Hill Wetlands Center. Col. Marc Austin, Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield garrison commander, said events, such as the Coastal Community Connections, provide insight to the healthy outlets throughout Coastal Georgia as well as a great opportunity to network. Ccommunity representatives from Richmond Hill, Pembroke, Hinesville, RISE and the Georgia Southern University Business Innovation Group participated in this event which allows community partners opportunity to share information relevant to Soldiers and Families occurring in the communities where they live. The Coastal Community Connection is held bi-annually in a Coastal Georgia community and we cannot wait to hold our next session in Spring 2025.
