About us
The University of Rochester Clinical and Translational Science Institute (UR CTSI) helps biomedical research teams work faster and better. Our mission is to accelerate the application of basic biomedical science findings to human health problems. As a member of the Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA) Program, we help researchers develop, test and implement life-improving or life-saving interventions in the community. Visit the UR CTSI website at ctsi.urmc.edu to learn how we can help you. The University of Rochester Clinical and Translational Science Institute is supported in part by CTSA Program grants UL1 TR002001, KL2 TR001999, and TL1 TR002000 from the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS), a component of the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Parenting research has historically excluded non-English-speaking communities, leading to a lack of culturally and linguistically appropriate parenting resources and perpetuating health disparities in those communities. #URochesterResearch funded in part by UR CTSI's Population Health Research Postdoc Program engaged Spanish-speaking Puerto Rican mothers to adapt parenting discipline measures. According to the study authors, engaging that community ensured that the measures were culturally and linguistically tailored to participants' preferences. Community engagement also strengthens partnerships and enables interventions to address health disparities and promote child health, they say. According to UR CTSI researchers Dongmei Li, PhD, and Zidian Xie, Twitter/X users expressed negative sentiment toward an omnibus bill granting the FDA regulatory authority over synthetic nicotine. Users believe the bill, which regulates synthetic nicotine products as tobacco products, would lead former smokers back to smoking and would negatively impact small vape businesses. Li and Xie hope the study will inform future regulations on alternative nicotine products. Read the full JMIR Publications study > https://lnkd.in/e3tnJFfC
