Andrew Duggleby, our Co-Founder and CTO, takes a technical deep dive into the innovation behind our VDR2 engine.
Last week we announced the Venus Detonation Ramjet 2000 lb thrust (VDR2). In this video series, I go into my old professor mode and explain the physics behind what Venus is doing, and how this engine enables the hypersonic economy. Here is episode 1, stay tuned for more including deeper dives for the more technical viewers. Venus Aerospace #homefordinner

Just one week after its unveiling, the buzz around the VDR2 continues to grow. The Venus Detonation Ramjet (VDR2), a 2000-lb thrust class engine, was introduced at the Up.Summit in Bentonville, leaving a lasting impression. The VDR2 represents a leap forward, offering seamless performance from takeoff all the way to Mach 6. It's a key step in making the hypersonic economy a reality, with initial flight testing on our drone in 2025.

We’re a few hours away from our big unveil at Up.Summit with UP.Partners!! The exclusive gathering in Bentonville, Arkansas, brings together 300 of the world’s most innovative minds who are reimagining the future of transportation. Later today, we’ll reveal our groundbreaking new engine, a major leap forward in aerospace technology, and highlight our new partnership that will pave the way for the future of high-speed flight.

Venus Aerospace successfully completed the first long-duration, high-thrust hot fire test of a Rotating Detonation Rocket Engine (RDRE) last week, marking a significant milestone in our RDRE development. This achievement brings us closer to flying an RDRE in the near future, as the engine’s thrust-to-weight ratio is now on par with leading rocket engines in the industry.

We can't WAIT for this year's Summit UP.Partners 🚀
“Build a little. Test a little. Learn a lot,” said Andrew Duggleby, Co-Founder & CTO of Venus Aerospace, in his presentation from the 2023 #UPSummit. With exciting footage from the flight of a drone model of their hypersonic plane to improvements on their detonation engine, building, testing, and learning is exactly what the team at Venus Aerospace have been up to in their quest to develop a reusable hypersonic engine. Their hypersonic plane design — the Venus Stargazer™ Spaceplane — is designed to travel at speeds of up to Mach 9. Compare this with the Mach 2 speeds of the Concorde, which still holds the record for the fastest commercial passenger flight across the Atlantic. The Venus Stargazer would allow for flights from Los Angeles to Tokyo in an hour — but getting to that point through the development of a reusable hypersonic engine is an R&D intensive endeavor. To hear about the challenges that Venus Aerospace has been meeting, matching, and overcoming, watch Andrew’s presentation below. With the 2024 UP.Summit fast approaching, this will be the last video presentation we'll post from the 2023 edition of the event. Stay tuned for information, announcements, and breaking news from the 2024 UP.Summit — we're excited to hear from all the amazing companies and speakers involved as they share their continued progress and updates. #VenusAerospace #VenusAero #Hypersonic #Concorde #Aviation #Innovation #VentureCapital #Technology #Aerospace #Entrepreneurship #Reusable #UPSummit
