“Build a little. Test a little. Learn a lot,” said Andrew Duggleby, Co-Founder & CTO of Venus Aerospace, in his presentation from the 2023 #UPSummit. With exciting footage from the flight of a drone model of their hypersonic plane to improvements on their detonation engine, building, testing, and learning is exactly what the team at Venus Aerospace have been up to in their quest to develop a reusable hypersonic engine. Their hypersonic plane design — the Venus Stargazer™ Spaceplane — is designed to travel at speeds of up to Mach 9. Compare this with the Mach 2 speeds of the Concorde, which still holds the record for the fastest commercial passenger flight across the Atlantic. The Venus Stargazer would allow for flights from Los Angeles to Tokyo in an hour — but getting to that point through the development of a reusable hypersonic engine is an R&D intensive endeavor. To hear about the challenges that Venus Aerospace has been meeting, matching, and overcoming, watch Andrew’s presentation below. With the 2024 UP.Summit fast approaching, this will be the last video presentation we'll post from the 2023 edition of the event. Stay tuned for information, announcements, and breaking news from the 2024 UP.Summit — we're excited to hear from all the amazing companies and speakers involved as they share their continued progress and updates. #VenusAerospace #VenusAero #Hypersonic #Concorde #Aviation #Innovation #VentureCapital #Technology #Aerospace #Entrepreneurship #Reusable #UPSummit

In 1939, #NationalAviationDay was created to celebrate the development of aviation, coinciding with Orville Wright’s Birthday. At Venus, we find it fitting, since we continue to engineer the future of aviation, that we honor today by taking a moment to appreciate our recent accomplishments. This spring, our inaugural supersonic drone flight not only got us data, but it allowed us to successfully demonstrate our flight controls, stability and one leg of our ultimate rotating detonation rocket engine propulsion system. We can’t wait to share what we’re doing next. Happy National Aviation Day to our team, and to those who continue to propel us all into the future. https://lnkd.in/gnmeDa4F

Enjoying the ride together goes beyond the walls of Venus Aerospace. We were pleased to host educators from around the globe through partnership with Limitless Space Institute (LSI), whose mission is to inspire and educate the next generation to travel beyond our solar system and to research and develop enabling technologies. These educators heard from our executive leaders about the mission and vision of Venus and enjoyed guided tours of our operations around the themes of Design, Test, and Build. By bringing inspiration and innovation back to their classrooms, we know their students will soon be our future engineers!

Congratulations to our summer interns on their impressive final project presentations! Earlier this week, each intern shared insights on their contributions to their departments, the lessons they learned, and their future plans. A big thank you to Vaishnav, Luigi, and Brycen for their hard work and dedication. At Venus, hosting interns is a core part of our values and our mission of shaping the future of aviation. To join us, candidates must express a passion for aerospace along with the essential departmental skills. We prefer rising juniors or seniors and the selection process is highly competitive. This summer we welcomed three interns from more than 800 applicants. If you’re interested in our summer program, applications open in late winter or early spring. We can’t wait to meet our next group of talented interns for 2025!

“I’m passionate about who we are, how we build, and how we treat our people. Yes, we get to build great technology, but if we build great technology on the backs of our employees, and people have sacrificed their families and their lives, then I think we’ve failed.” Published today, Bonnie Marcus of Forbes interviews our co-founder and CEO, Sarah "Sassie" Duggleby, delving into Venus' groundbreaking technology, unique culture, and innovative approach to building an aerospace company.

ICYMI: Venus Aerospace was selected for a NASA SBIR continuing our work on Rotating Detonation Rocket Engines (RDREs). In this project, we will work with NASA to develop optimized nozzle contours by leveraging our proven RDRE hardware. Venus continues to advance RDRE research and development to solve commercial, civil, and defense missions. We will first transition this flight-proven model into a reusable hypersonic flight system to meet U.S. Defense needs for high-speed flight tests. You can read more about the rest of the NASA SBIR selections here: https://lnkd.in/gv9JfffQ
