Recently, our Caribbean Equipment Services team continued their annual beach cleanup initiative. This year, volunteers increased fivefold with cleanup sites across multiple islands: Jamaica, the Bahamas, the British Virgin Islands, and Aruba. The team collected over 2000 lbs of garbage from the beaches, which included plastic bottles, driftwood, car tires, and a boat engine.
The Ocean Conservancy spearheads this annual event in over 100 countries worldwide, where it seeks to harness the power of people to fight ocean trash. This is in line with Veolia's multifaceted performance goals to provide clean water and support life on land and sea through partnership. Plastic pollution is a massive problem for our oceans, but even small actions can make a big difference. Every bottle, every straw, and every piece of trash we clean up can lead to a cleaner, healthier ocean.
These cleanup efforts were facilitated by the Jamaica Environment Trust Petrojam Limited, Green VI, Rotary Club of Nassau Sunrise, and Arikok National Park. Veolia’s participation was coordinated by DOEN GAYLE – Caribbean Commercial Manager with volunteers from the services team: Gaddy Senatus, Kevin Seymour, Tiffany Rolle-Brown, Matthew Michael, Jason France, Craig Morgan, Elton Mathias, Tyrone Richardson, Headley Williams, Jeslyne Tromp, Dominico Geerman, Joram Boekhoudt, Edgard Rasmijn, Florian BLANCHE, Otis Olivier, Luis Ferrras, Francisco Arias, Horge Roga, Yunis Yousseff, Michael Medina, Roque Herrera, Edward Werleman.
