As the power behind the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, it's been an honor to partner with The Trevor Project over the past two years as they continue to lead the way in providing specialized services for LGBTQ youth through the 988 Lifeline. Since the transition to the three-digit dialing code in 2022, the 988 Lifeline has offered vital crisis support through over 200 crisis centers to more than 10 million contacts. The LGBTQ youth specialized services, alongside the Veterans Crisis Line and Spanish-language services, have been essential in serving a significant portion of these contacts. In 2023 alone, The Trevor Project supported over 278,000 LGBTQ contacts through 988, and it is on track to exceed that number this year. Learn more:

Vibrant Emotional Health submitted testimony for New York City's oversight hearing on the B-HEARD program. While the program represents an important step forward in crisis response, there are significant areas for improvement, including reducing the reliance on law enforcement, integrating more peer specialists, and enhancing collaboration between 988 and 911 systems. Our testimony calls for increased investment to ensure the B-HEARD program can meet the needs of New Yorkers in crisis. We are committed to advocating for a trauma-informed, public health crisis response system that supports our communities. Read more: https://bit.ly/3N8QHvR

As part of Daniel's Law Week of Action, Vibrant partnered with Senator Samra Brouk and the Daniel's Law Coalition to host a webinar on the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. We discussed the need to raise awareness and expand trauma-informed, compassionate crisis responses across New York. Together, we are advocating for systemic change in honor of Daniel Prude and all those in crisis. Let's ensure every community member knows about the #988Lifeline and the support it offers.
