Keeping the WILD in Washington since 1979.

About us

Washington Wild protects and restores wild lands and waters in Washington State through advocacy, education, and civic engagement. Since 1979, Washington Wild has played an invaluable role in permanently protecting nearly three million acres of Wilderness throughout Washington State. We bring people together in the vigorous defense of our remaining wild forests, waters, and wildlife. By educating, empowering and mobilizing our communities, Washington Wild builds powerful grassroots networks that help protect wild lands and waters throughout the state. Founded as the Washington Wilderness Coalition, we changed our name to Washington Wild in 2012 to better reflect our expanded mission to protect wild and free flowing rivers in addition to wild lands.

Late last month, our Conservation and Brewshed® Program Manager, Chris Chappell, was invited to join the Washington Brewers Guild for their annual Hill Climb in Olympia. Alongside representatives from breweries such as Chuckanut, Kulshan, and Airways (pictured here), Chris met with state legislators to speak to how important clean water and healthy watersheds are to supporting Washington's thriving craft brewing industry. He was also able to share examples of how brewers are advocating for these resources as members of Washington Wild's Brewshed® Alliance. A 501(c)6 nonprofit, the Washington Brewers Guild is a trade association dedicated to advancing the common interests of Washington's craft brewers through legislative advocacy and brewer community building. In addition to inviting Chris to be a part of the hill climb, WBG has established a sustainability committee and dedicated a panel discussion featuring Chris and Aslan Brewing to speak to the work of the WA Brewshed® during their Craft Beer Industry Summit last fall.
