We love to attend career fairs and talk to students! We had a great time at the Seventh Annual College and Career Fair in collaboration with all the Providence High Schools at the Providence Career and Technical Academy. This college and career Fair provides students exposure to schools, unions, and programs with the goal for eleventh and undecided twelfth graders to learn about how colleges and other career programs support and provide opportunities for our students. Rolling up our sleeves to give back to the communities we serve! Thrilled to run our first ever Family Day of Caring with our team members and their families where we helped clean up trash and do some gardening at Sabin Point in East Providence. We had a fun time pitching in together to clean up the shoreline, playground, and park areas, making it a safer and more enjoyable space for residents.

And... they're off! We are sending 20 of our lineworkers and supervisors to Florida to help Tampa Electric prepare for restoration efforts from the impacts of Hurricane Milton. Our crews left our Lincoln facility in bucket trucks with other equipment and materials this morning and will be arriving tomorrow. Our thoughts are with those who are preparing for Milton and we wish for everyone's safety through this powerful hurricane.

After spending nearly a week supporting restoration efforts from the impacts of Helene in Southwest Virginia, our crews are headed home. Working in remote areas in deep terrain not accessible by bucket truck, our line workers got to put their pole climbing skills to work! We thank them for their hard work supporting Appalachian Power and American Electric Power as they worked tirelessly to restore power to customers in affected areas.

Our crews and support staff in Southwest Virginia are working tirelessly to help Appalachian Power and American Electric Power with their restoration efforts from the impacts of Hurricane Helene. Field Supervisor Jon Kenney says, “storm work brings us a sense of pride in what we do, day in and day out, when customers are relying on us to get their power back on.” We applaud them for their hard work and commitment to help restore power for residents in Virginia and our thoughts are with all those in the south currently affected by powerful Helene.

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, we'd like to highlight an engineer on our gas team, Victor Montero who shared the traditions that have been passed down from his family. "My family traditions originate from unity and culinary art. A weekend in a Dominican Household can start with a “tres golpes” breakfast which consist of mashed Plantains “Mangu”, fried eggs, cheese and salami. Families and friends gather and socialize over a game of “Domino” Dominoes and listen to “Bachata” tunes, classic “Merengues” and the urban sounds of “Dembo”. As the day progresses into the night, it becomes a time of reflection, story telling and folklore." When reflecting on which influential Latinos he looks up to, he says "Both of my grandfathers were leaders in their communities and helped develop the infrastructure of their towns. My Father, aunts and uncles are all Engineers and I have always looked up to all of them. #HispanicHeritageMonth

We're so proud of our 18 employees who are currently in Southwest Virginia to help Appalachian Power and American Electric Power with their restoration efforts from the impacts of Hurricane Helene. Crews are working on pole replacements, running new wires, clearing trees, and patrolling lines before the power is restored. The work requires specialized equipment due to the deep terrain and because many locations are not accessible with bucket trucks. We admire the hard work and dedication of all the crews helping to restore power for countless residents in Virginia and wish for the safety of everyone impacted by Helene.

Our forestry team is thrilled to sponsor a tulip tree for The Tour des Trees, an annual long-distance cycling adventure which serves as the primary public outreach and community engagement event for the TREE Fund. The Tour des Trees serves to advance the TREE Fund’s mission to explore and share the science of trees contributing to the lives of people, communities, economies, and the environment, and of the planning, planting, and sustainability of urban and community trees. This year's tour ended in Providence where a tree was then planted at the Roger Williams Memorial Site on South Main Street. Learn more here: http://spr.ly/6044U3frK
