Medicaid funds healthcare coverage for over 20% of Coloradans. With the proposed cuts, that would leave a huge gap in funding for our state's most vulnerable communities, many of whom live in rural areas. For thousands of Coloradans, Medicaid covers essential health services that allow people to live independent lives. Curt Wolff, a Thornton resident who relies on Medicaid for his care, said, “Where do you cut? Do you cut to the quick? Are you cut til it bleeds? That's too far. You have to make smart decisions,” he said. “It's just a giant pyramid of effect that if this goes away, it's going to be a huge negative effect. So I don't want to throw a scare out there, but yeah, I'm concerned about it not just for myself, just for the economy and everyone in general.” Read or listen to the CPR story here: https://bit.ly/42e0AAp

March is National Social Work month, a time to recognize social workers and the many great things they do across a wide array of settings. Social Workers empower individuals and communities, helping them fulfill their potential. They help make our society a better place to live. Whenever you can during the month of March, be sure to let the social workers in your life let them know just how appreciated they are.

We’ve got tips for you on building resilience during these challenging times: https://bit.ly/3DrBm8f

WellPower’s approach to services reflects a deep understanding of the social determinants of health, from the food security provided at our Resource Center to the housing we have built at Sanderson Apartments. We work to instill this understanding in our elected officials and prioritize a breadth of legislative issues in our advocacy work. From housing to education to food security, we support legislation that impacts people we serve as whole individuals.

Current narratives suggest that homelessness and housing crises are unsolvable problems. WellPower disagrees. Sheridan on 10th is a three-story, supportive housing apartment building in Denver’s Villa Park Neighborhood. The building consists of 60 one-bedroom and one-bath units for chronically unhoused individuals. Learn more at https://lnkd.in/gsQCaEXd
