If UB alumnus Ann E. Casey, AIA, LEED AP (MArch/MBA ’14) knows anything about life as an architect – especially at the management level – it’s that it is one big balancing act. Recently named to the “40 Under 40” list by Buffalo Business First, Ann is project architect, resource manager, and Northwest market leader for WENDEL Companies—an architecture and engineering firm here in Buffalo, NY. One of her recent high-profile assignments included the transformation of the Buffalo AKG Art Museum, where she served as the local representative for the project’s New York City-based architect-of-record, Cooper Robertson. Reflecting on balancing the art and business of architecture, Ann says “UB was an immediate draw. There are very few MArch/MBA programs available. Several administrative teams in Orleans County, NY, were spread across different physical spaces, some of which were no longer sufficient for their needs. Our team worked with the county to design a civic structure that would consolidate these departments while upholding the principles and sensibilities of the population of Orleans County.
