I am excited to announce that I am volunteering as the new city lead for Women and Climate in Riyadh KSA! I learned about Women and Climate last year before attending COP28 in Dubai when seeking meaningful networking opportunities specifically for women in such a male-dominated space. As a young female professional working in the climate sector, it was a relief to find a group that centers the powerful role that women professionals, even those without climate experience, have in climate action. I have a thing about conferences - they focus a lot on the panel topics & panelists, and while they do have coffee breaks for networking, it's often hard to feel grounded, connect with total strangers, and create community. Thanks to Women and Climate, we started a Doha chapter last year to have climate chats throughout the year, and this year at Qatar National Dialogue on Climate Change, I got to connect with a bunch of wonderful women that I've met over the year and have friends to sit with during the panels. As the city lead for Doha, I host somewhat monthly hangs where we can come together to connect over climate - for those that are currently working in it, interested in it, or new to it.
