L+M’s HVAC and Energy Manager Minaiel Shoaib, CEM recently ‘walked the walk’ and modeled sustainable outfits for the ‘Women of Future Industries: From Runway Model to Role Model’ fashion show at Brooklyn Public Library’s Central Library. The event was hosted by Women.NYC to highlight influential women in the sustainability industry, showcase new styles made from sustainable materials and crafted by local designers from the Brooklyn Fashion Academy, and provide an amazing networking opportunity with industry leaders and sustainability advocates. L+M is a leading national sustainable affordable housing developer and utilizes sustainable practices and technologies such as Passive House, geothermal systems and solar panels to deliver energy efficient and resilient homes in neighborhoods vulnerable to the effects of climate change. Women.NYC is an initiative by the New York City Economic Development Corporation that connects women to jobs and businesses of high growth sectors. #Sustainable #SustainableMaterials #FashionShow #Brooklyn #BrooklynPublicLibrary #WomenLeaders #Ecofriendly #LMDevelopmentPartners

“The work of government is never just about one person. It’s about the collective effort and ensuring that every decision, every program puts women and girls at the center.” – First Deputy Mayor Maria Torres-Springer At Women.NYC, we believe in the power of collective action to drive change. Together with Amplify Her Foundation and Women’s Philanthropy Institute, we are proud to celebrate #GivetoWomenandGirlsDay — a powerful call to action to address the reality that less than 2% of philanthropic funding reaches women and girls' organizations. With over $50 million in city funding through #WomenForwardNYC, we’re not just raising awareness—we’re leading a movement to create real, lasting impact by ensuring women and girls are at the heart of every policy and program. #GiveToWomenAndGirls #WomenForward #ThoughtLeadership #WomenEmpowerment #PhilanthropyForChange

We’re so excited to see all the love for our From Runway Model to Role Model Fashion Show! Proud to partner in a show that proves the future of fashion is green and to be part of a movement empowering women to lead the way 💚
Last Friday, I was asked by Women.NYC to attend the Climate Week Fashion Show, where sustainability met fashion, and we had a chance to meet the leaders in the Green Economy. This amazing event came to be because of partners like the BKLN Fashion Academy Brooklyn Public Library About 600 attendees, 15 role models (industry experts) walked the runway, and eight collections were inspired by women of future industries and made with eco-friendly resources. Grateful to have brought my dear friend Crystal Villaseñor and we sat next to Dynishal Gross NYC Commissioner NYC Department of Small Business Services ! Dynishal and I go way back when I was first advocating for Native Americans and MWBE's in NYC so to say I was happy is an understatement. Dynishal works so hard for entrepreneurs that I was legit jumping for joy for her. Thank you Colleen Bataille for recognizing the work my company JMT Media does supporting hundreds of women weekly mentoring entrepreneurs.

It’s not every day that I get to go to a fashion show and at the Brooklyn Public Library no less. A perfect way to close out climate week- the Brooklyn Fashion Academy teamed up with New York City Economic Development Corporation”s Women.NYC program to produce “From Runway model to Role Model”. Many of the women walking the runway are professionals working the field of climate tech and sustainability. Kudos to the team! The designers show us - it’s never too late to pursue your passion. I loooooove serving as a Women.NYC Advisor and #mentor, helping #womenownedbusiness in New York City thrive, build lucrative and sustainable businesses by leveraging #technology. Last week I had the joy of attending a #sustainablefashion show with #WomenNYC × Brooklyn Public Library: From Role Model to Runway, the show featured local #fashiondesigners who participated in a 16-week program where they learned to sew, make fabrics, produce a capsule line, and learn fashion marketing business. All of the Designers and Models did an AMAZING JOB! 🎊😍👏🏾🌱💚 ... and yes... I wore sneakers on a red carpet. 💃🏾🤷🏾♀️
