The four McGovern-Dole School Feeding Program awards from the USDA will be game changers for nearly half a million children and their communities across Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Laos and Rwanda. The U.S. is the largest donor to the World Food Programme school meals programs globally, thanks to bipartisan support and WFP is a proud partner in that legacy. In recognition of World Food Day, we are so excited to announce that our Erase Hunger campaign has raised over $1 million, providing more than four million school meals to students worldwide. We could not have done this without our incredible donors, partners, and friends! Special thanks to our partners ADM, PTx Trimble, FEED Projects and professional soccer player Jozy Altidore – FEED and Jozy's generous matches helped the campaign double last year’s impact. Thank you, all! Together, we will erase hunger.

This week, Deputy Executive Director, Carl Skau, visited shelters and informal tent settlements to meet affected communities, local government officials and humanitarian partners in Lebanon. As of yesterday, around 1.2 million people have been affected and nearly 190,000 displaced individuals are currently sheltered in over 1,000 facilities, while hundreds of thousands more are seeking safety among family and friends. The World Food Programme and UNICEF are currently working hand in hand to deliver vital support across Lebanon, but a ceasefire is urgent. 📍Update from Gaza: While hot meals and the distribution of fresh bread from bakeries continue, the World Food Programme will no longer distribute food baskets across in October as the flow of essential goods has been critically restricted. As winter approaches, every day is a struggle for survival and the threat of famine persists—this war must end so WFP can get vital supplies to those who need it most.

I’m excited to announce that I’ve teamed up with World Food Program USA on their “Erase Hunger” campaign to provide kids around the world with school meals that fuel them with the energy to play, learn, and grow.    My goal is to raise enough funds between now and October 16 to send 100,000 school meals. And right now, your donation goes twice as far because I’m matching every dollar raised up to $25K. Together, we can make a make a big difference. Link to donate: https://lnkd.in/g8v2JjQy

Last week during UNGA 79, we were proud to host an important sponsored conversation – “In Her Hands: Technologies for Women-led Climate Resilience”– with co-sponsor Google.org. World Food Programme Executive Director Cindy McCain joined Google SVP of Research, Technology and Society James Manyika to discuss how World Food Programme and Google take bold steps to enhance food security and climate resilience through advanced AI technology. Following that conversation, WFP Goodwill Ambassador Andrew Zimmern moderated a panel discussion with WFP Assistant Executive Director Partnerships and Innovation, Rania Dagash-Kamara, Director of AI & Sustainability at Google.org, Brigitte Hoyer Gosselink, and Director of Agricultural Development at the Gates Foundation, Martien van Nieuwkoop. They dug into why private sector engagement is critical to climate resilience innovation and how programs focusing on women strengthen their capacity to contribute to food security.
