In celebration of #WorldSpaceWeek and this year’s theme of Space & Climate Change, we’re excited to share our newest Virtual Mission: Observation Earth. Earth-monitoring sensors on the International Space Station are outdated and need to be replaced with new, state-of-the-art hardware – and it’s up to your students to do it. As they complete mission objectives, they’ll communicate with each other while monitoring real-time events on Earth, protecting people and the environment in doing so. Happy World Space Week - #WSW2024! The United Nations General Assembly declared in 1999 that World Space Week will be held each year from October 4-10. These dates commemorate two events: ➡ October 4, 1957: Launch of the first human-made Earth satellite, Sputnik 1, thus opening the way for space exploration ➡ October 10, 1967: The signing of the Treaty on Principles Governing the Activites of States in the Exploration and Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, including the Moon and Other Celestial Bodies. Goddard, the American founding father of modern #rocketry (more on that in an upcoming post! - follow The Goddard Project to learn more.) This year's theme is #Space & #ClimateChange !
