CRISIS RESPONSE UNIT SUPERVISOR

The Crisis Response Team Unit Supervisor is a crucial "First Responder" within the Wayne County Juvenile Detention Facility. Operating 365 days a year, 24/7, our facility relies on the Supervisor's leadership and immediate respond to disturbances, escapes, fires, evacuations, natural disasters, and/or non-emergency responses. The Crisis Response Team Unit Supervisor will direct a team of highly skilled individuals who are trained in trauma-informed responses. This role is vital in ensuring the safety and security of our facility and the community it serves.

The Unit Supervisor of the Trauma-Informed Crisis Response Team will have the unique opportunity to develop specialized skills in handling multiple threat levels in the facility through a trauma-informed lens. This includes using de-escalation and the tension reduction cycle. The Unit Supervisor will always remain mindful of the unique nature of dealing with each individual resident and be prepared to provide the appropriate response to neutralize any acts of aggression or mental health crises. This role offers a dynamic and challenging environment that will foster personal and professional growth.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all Trauma-Informed Crisis Response Team operations
  • Schedule team member assignments to maintain adequate coverage on each shift
  • Gather and review statics on critical incidents within the facility to develop solutions for reduction.
  • Conduct rounds to assess the team's daily activity and interactions with residents.
  • Oversee a shift of Trauma-Informed Crisis Response Team Members and ensure daily objectives are complete.
  • Ensure team members follow policies and procedures and state licensing guidelines while operating.
  • Provide direction to team members when activated to ensure the safety of the residents, staff, and team members.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma with at least five (5) years of experience in Law enforcement, military, and/or a secured/correctional facility - Preferably in a position of leadership OR
  • Associates Degree with at least three (3) years of experience in Law enforcement, military, and/or a secured/correctional facility - Preferably in a position of leadership OR
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, preferably with major coursework in Criminal Justice, Human Services, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, or a closely related field AND
  • Two (2) years' experience in a leadership position within law enforcement, military, and/or a secured/correctional facility
  • Must possess a Valid Driver's License.
  • Special Conditions:
  • Applicant MUST have or be able to obtain DHS Registry and Central Registry Clearance prior to hire and annually thereafter:
  • Be willing to accept appointment to any one of the three shifts in any five-day work week schedule, Monday through Sunday, including holidays.
  • Be willing to accept mandatory overtime based on the needs of the facility.
  • Must complete a 160-hour training curriculum.
  • Pass a medical examination before hire and annually thereafter.
  • Pass physical agility requirement test before hire and annually thereafter.

Salary: $53000 - $71550 per year
