Zepf Center has been serving the Lucas County community for nearly 50 years. We are the leading provider of behavioral health and substance use disorder services in Northwest Ohio. Services include adult and child psychiatric, substance abuse, case management, residential, Crisis Care, and therapy programs, as well as career development and wellness services. Zepf Center also offers primary care medical services to our patients to contribute to their continuum of care. Zepf Center is a trauma-informed agency and environment for both patients and staff.
We are currently seeking a full-time SUD Residential Counselor to provide specialized therapeutic services to individuals admitted to our inpatient substance use treatment program. The therapist will conduct assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, provide counseling, and facilitate group therapy sessions to support clients in their recovery journey.

We are currently seeking a full-time SUD Residential Counselor to provide specialized therapeutic services to individuals admitted to our inpatient substance use treatment program. The therapist will conduct assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, provide counseling, and facilitate group therapy sessions to support clients in their recovery journey.
Essential Duties of this position include but are not limited to:
- Assessment and Treatment Planning:
- Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments, American Society of Addiction Medicines Level of Care (ASAM LOC) to evaluate clients' substance use disorders, mental health needs, and related issues.
- Collaborate with the treatment team to develop individualized treatment plans that address identified needs and goals.
- Individual and Group Therapy:
- Provide evidence-based individual therapy sessions to clients, utilizing therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI) from a trauma informed lens.
- Lead and facilitate group therapy sessions focusing on relapse prevention, coping skills development, and recovery support.
- Case Management:
- Assist clients in accessing essential services, including medical care, housing, and social support.
- Monitor and coordinate referrals to external resources as needed for continued care.
- Crisis Intervention and Support:
- Offer crisis intervention and emotional support to clients experiencing acute distress or setbacks in their recovery process.
- Assist clients in developing healthy coping strategies to manage stress and cravings.
- Psychoeducation and Family Support:
- Provide clients and their families with psychoeducation on addiction, recovery, and mental health.
- Collaborate with family members to support the client's treatment and recovery journey.
- Progress Monitoring and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records, including progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries.
- Regularly assess and document client progress, adjusting treatment interventions as necessary.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate effectively with the multidisciplinary treatment team, including nurses, psychiatrists, social workers, certified peers and other staff members. .
- Attend treatment team meetings to discuss client progress and treatment planning.
- Continued Learning and Professional Development:
- Stay up to date with the latest developments in addiction treatment, therapeutic techniques, and best practices.
- Engage in ongoing professional development activities and training.
Required
- Active LCDCII or LCDCIII license
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle and be insured under agency commercial policy
- CPR, First Aid and CPI Trained
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree with an active Ohio LPC or LSW licensure.
- Demonstrated computer proficiency and literacy including proper documentation in an electronic health records system, and the use of Microsoft office products.
