Thank you, Minister of State Alvin Tan, for your strong support of Access Singapore! We have made significant headway over the last few years in advancing social mobility for youths, but much more remains to be done. Disadvantaged youths in particular often lack representation and struggle to understand how they can overcome the circumstances they were born into. As such, we need to do more and act faster to shift mindsets around traditional notions of success and bridge opportunity gaps for those who need it most. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with key stakeholders and further enhancing social mobility in Singapore in the years to come.

🇸🇬 Minister of State for Trade & Industry, Culture, Community & Youth, Board Member of the Monetary Authority of Singapore and Member of Parliament for Tanjong Pagar GRC

In Parliament today, I responded to MP Dr Syed Harun Alhabsyi’s Adjournment Motion on “Creating Opportunity for Youth to Thrive”. He spoke of the importance of redefining success and ways to develop confident youths who are rooted in Singapore. 🛠️ The best thing we can do for our youths is to equip them with the tools they need to thrive. And to help them grow confident, resilient and rugged! So they can overcome obstacles along their way and chart their own path. 🛤️ We continue to provide these tools and platforms to equip our youths, for example: ⭕️Outward Bound Singapore ⭕️Mentoring SG ⭕️Well-Being Circles ⭕️Youth Action Challenge ⭕️Youth Panel Singapore 🤝We’ve also been working with partners and ministries to create opportunities for youths they enter the workforce. Ministry of Manpower and National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) are key partners of Mentoring SG, along with >100 corporates and associations such as Micron Technology, Cisco, LinkedIn, Prudential, Singapore Semiconductor Industry Association (SSIA) and ST Aerospace Engineering. We also partner Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), IBFSG - The Institute of Banking & Finance Singapore, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Singapore, Ministry of Trade and Industry (Singapore), and Enterprise Singapore to equip our youths to be ready for the rest of the world, and for disadvantaged youths, we work with Ministry of Social and Family Development, Singapore (MSF) partners such as Access Singapore, a social mobility charity providing career exposure opportunities. 💪🔥We will continue to turn youths’ aspirations to serve into actions to serve - like through Youth Corps Singapore, which also celebrates its 10th year anniversary this Saturday. Join us, along with PM Lawrence Wong at *SCAPE Singapore: https://lnkd.in/g2_XsDAd 🙏Thank you to all ministries and partners for the incredible work you’ve put in to equip our next generation of leaders, and for our youths for striving and thriving in a world in flux. Some of our youth leaders were with us in Parl today - thank you for making the time and making a difference in Singapore! ▶️Full video here: https://lnkd.in/gAURAWpF Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY)
