"We don't tell them to change, we let them lead the change"👌💯✅ big lesson from the just concluded Africa Society for Social and Behavior Change Summit 2024. We were privileged to host a Virtual Hub (Watch Party) with 444 participants in the University of Calabar. We delivered with the help of technology and the support of great departmental leaders from the UNICAL Department of Mass Communication, Theater and Media Arts, Public Health and the Youth Friendly Hub 👍💪✅ It was the first conference and watch party experience for many of our young participants as they look forward to more opportunities. We are committed to building a community of young SBC practitioners with a sound knowledge of SBC rudiments. This cohort will continue to receive post-confernce mentoring and support. We are grateful the African Society for Social & Behavior Change NS4SBC, AHF Nigeria and the Management of the University of Calabar 🔥 for their tremendous support . #AfricaSBCSummit24 #ns4sbc #AHF #AHFNIGERIA #yfh_unical #thenextbigthing #SBC #Behaviourchange #UnicalYouthFriendlyHub

Cela fait quelques semaines depuis notre révolutionnaire #AfricaSBCSummit24. Do you have any key takeaways to share with us! 𝗟𝗲𝘁'𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿! Engaging the private sector in social and behavior change (SBC) initiatives is often overlooked, yet it is crucial for fostering sustainable development and impactful change. During our 3-day engagement, we gained some valuable tips from inspiring leaders on how to improve our private sector engagement. Try these out- 🔦Strategic collaborations: 🎙️Norkor Akua Duah, MD MullenLowe Global-Ghana, underscored the importance of a strategic, step-by-step approach when collaborating with the private sector. She reminded us that while projects may have endpoints, the ongoing work in SBC continues, necessitating a long-term vision and sustainable impact. 🔦Ethical alignments: 🎙️Saba Amdework from Zeleman Communications-Ethiopia, pointed out the ethical considerations in aligning private sector interests with SBC goals. She emphasized the need for HCD approaches (co-creation sessions) to deeply understand and leverage private sector motivations, finding common ground and engagement opportunities that benefit all parties. 🔦Creating sustainable value chains: 🎙️Delilah Takawira, Senior Technical Advisor at FHI 360-Zimbabwe, shared insights on the Takunda project, which engages food producers and processors to generate income and profits while ensuring families have access to nutritious food. This initiative exemplifies a sustainable and beneficial value chain for all stakeholders. 🔦Ensuring lasting impact: 🎙️Lesly Marange CEO of Glytime Foods, highlighted their efforts to build farmer capacities, ensure food safety and quality, and establish fair pricing mechanisms. These elements are essential for maintaining the interests of all parties involved and ensuring a lasting impact beyond the project's duration. How are you uniquely engaging the private sector in your SBC interventions? #SocialBehaviorChange #SBCatFHI360 #PSE
