We are excited to participate in the Ecumenical Pharmaceutical Network (EPN) Biennial Forum this week in Tanzania, with a focus on bridging the last mile to ensure health care access for everyone! Dr. Dennis Cherian, our Managing Director for Technical Services and Global Practice, will be moderating a vital panel discussion on the importance of accelerating access to quality health care services for all. Additionally, Dr. Bill Clemmer, our Senior Regional Technical Advisor in the DRC, will present on an innovative hybrid learning model for health care workers. This approach is essential in low-resource and conflict settings, addressing the dual challenges of a shortage of qualified healthcare workers and a growing disease burden. Our experience with tailored, context-specific hybrid training activities at Corus organization IMA World Health demonstrates how we can effectively improve health care access while simultaneously enhancing workforce capacity. We look forward to sharing valuable lessons learned and best practices from our collaborations with local and regional partners! Improving maternal, newborn and child health is a pressing issue in Nepal. Despite progress, critical issues in health care access and quality keep maternal and newborn morbidity and mortality rates high. The Baal Swasthya project, a collaboration of Corus organizations Lutheran World Relief and IMA World Health, is transforming health outcomes by reducing barriers and enhancing health services. Innovative components of the project include the E-MOTIVE intervention package and the non-pneumatic antishock garment (NASG) to address postpartum hemorrhage, a leading cause of maternal mortality. By partnering with the Nepal Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (NESOG), Baal Swasthya has strengthened the capacity of health care workers to implement the E-MOTIVE package and utilize the NASG in clinical settings. Learn more about how the project is making a difference and contributing to positive MNCH outcomes in Nepal here: https://lnkd.in/ezz4FQt7 Pictured: Nurse Puspa Oli practices using the NASG during project training. #Nepal #HealthCare #HealthSystems #HealthSystemStrengthening #CapacityStrengthening #EMOTIVE #NASG #MaternalHealth #MaternalNewbornChildHealth #MNCH

🌍 Haiti has been grappling with heightened socio-political unrest, with public protests, violence and riots becoming almost commonplace across its cities. This turmoil has significantly affected education, economic activities and health care services, creating challenging circumstances for service delivery. 🚑 Since June 2022, the Improved Health Service Delivery – Integrated Health Resilience Activity (IHSD), funded by USAID and implemented by Corus organization IMA World Health, has been working to enhance access to quality primary care services and strengthen the health system across six departments in Haiti. 🤝 Over the past two years, IMA has partnered with local organizations to ensure uninterrupted primary health care for the Haitian population, achieving remarkable results in some of the country's most challenging neighborhoods. ✨ Learn more about our unwavering commitment to health care in Haiti: https://lnkd.in/eyDetqUv Pictured: Claudy Antoine, Head of Counseling at the IHSD FOSREF Center in Christ-Roi, during a family planning session. Deba Souko’s family has farmed their small plot in Mali for generations, but extreme weather — long droughts followed by floods — and rising prices have made it hard to produce enough food. “These times are difficult,” Deba says. “Eating three times a day is not a certainty.” As a result, her grandson Aliou became critically ill. Previously an active toddler, Aliou couldn’t even walk. Community child health volunteers found that Aliou had severe acute malnutrition. Deba’s family was referred to Corus organization Lutheran World Relief’s project selling food and fertilizer at reduced prices to more than 1,200 households in need in the Ségou Region of Mali. After accessing a kit that included fertilizer, millet and rice, Aliou saw great improvement. Deba is hopeful that next year’s harvest will be much improved with the fertilizer, improving the family’s livelihood and preventing future malnutrition. Deba is not alone. The Sahel region of Africa is facing a devastating crisis fueled by conflict, extreme poverty and climate change. With millions displaced across Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger, nearly one million children under age five are at risk of severe wasting in the Sahel. We are dedicated to combating malnutrition and supporting livelihoods throughout the Sahel by enhancing climate resilience and improving food security. On this World Food Day, let’s join together to ensure no one goes hungry. https://lnkd.in/e9B7h8mS #WorldFoodDay #Mali #Sahel #Malnutrition #Livelihoods #Nutrition #Resilience #FoodSecurity
