I saw this image today.. It’s a term I often use with my friends in the market. When it comes to process. Do you dangle a carrot or beat with a stick? Some may say… dangle a carrot! Incentivise those by creating something amazing that aligns with an overall objective. Entice people to the place that makes it a no brainer. Some may say… it has to be the stick. Without a stick, change won’t happen and if sticks and mandates are applied, you’ve failed to show the benefits. It suddenly becomes ‘a thing’ that no one wants to do. Some may say… a little bit of both! Either way, the carrot and stick approach are often short term motivators which fosters short term thinking. We need to think beyond carrots and sticks. TIDE - the underpinning of Delegated Data Managed, was born out of a desire to fix a problem and provide a single source ‘Delegated Authority Data’ Truth, to all participants and stakeholders across the business. Standards being the best place to start. Truth being the best place to finish. With interoperability benefits into other business systems, providing an enhancement to TIDE; what’s not to love!
